Full Job Description
The Safety Manager implements and provides oversight of the organization's safety programs and policies that safeguard teammates in the McLane work environment. They ensure that facilities are in compliance with state and federal regulations. What you'll do as a Safety Manager: • Plan, organize and conduct periodic OSHA, DOT and EPA field reviews to ensure compliance with Federal, State and local rules and regulations. • Assist Operations with outside agency inspections, correspondence and follow-up to completion. • Monitor progress of corrective measures taken. • Interface with Operations and Staff leadership on the development and implementation of EH&S programs and best practices. • Assist Operations in reading, interpreting and communicating applicable risk management related regulations, rules and industry standards. • Assist Operations in reviewing and analyzing incidents (property damage/injuries/collisions) and corresponding investigation reports. • Assist with the development and implementation of company-wide EH&S training programs. • Evaluate and recommend appropriate personal protective equipment, evaluate effectiveness and suggest upgrades where needed. • Provide interface between Operations and various Federal/State and local agencies and Risk Management contractors (i.e. DOT, EPA, OSHA and Workers Compensation loss control representatives. • Develop and maintain relationships with outside EH&S professionals/organizations via seminars, personal contacts, professional memberships, publications and continuing education in order to remain abreast of new developments in EH&S. • Plan, organize and conduct risk assessments of the hazardous processes/conditions identified by Operations or during Risk Management field reviews. Advise appropriate methods of control or elimination of hazardous processes/conditions, including various available alternative measures. • Monitor progress of corrective measures taken. • Perform special projects as assigned. Qualifications you'll bring as a Safety Manager: • Have a high school diploma or equivalent; a bachelor's degree in Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) or a related field is a plus. • Have 5-7 years experience in EHS field. • Knowledge of DOT a plus. • Bilingual (Spanish) a plus. • Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Internet. • This position requires the ability to read, write, and understand English at a level sufficient to perform job-related tasks effectively and safely. This includes understanding work instructions, safety protocols, and communications essential to the role.
