Nurse Manager - Medical Surgical

Shift: Full Time, Day shift

Department/Unit Summary 
Join a cohesive and inclusive nursing team dedicated to excellence in patient-centered care on our 34 bed units. Our Medical Surgical  and Telemetry units offers a premier environment to hone your critical care skills and serves as a foundational steppingstone for future careers in Intermediate Care (IMC), Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and beyond. Experience a supportive professional culture that allows you to focus on quality outcomes and professional growth while being supported by a great leaders, CNAs  and Unit Secretaries. With a 1:5 to 1:6 nurse to patient ratio, you will play a crucial role in in leading the Med Surge team. This position offers the opportunity to work in a collaborative environment focused on delivering high-quality patient care.

How you’ll contribute  As Nurse Manager, you’ll lead a high-performing team grounded in teamwork and effective communication. Reporting directly to the Director of Medical Surgical, you’ll mentor and support nursing staff while ensuring safe, high-quality, patient-centered care. You will overseeing nursing operations within an assigned unit, including supervision of nursing staff, ensuring adherence to clinical policies and standards, and collaborating with leadership to optimize patient care delivery.

  • Provide overall direction and supervision of patient care and nursing personnel on the unit.
  • Assists with developing specific departmental goals standards and objectives which directly support the strategic plan and vision of the organization. 
  • Manages staff relations including performance management, staff satisfaction, and conflict management.
  • Performs and oversees scheduling, staff development, recruitment, payroll, and student engagements.
  • Monitors departmental budgets, regulatory compliance, departmental contracts, and vendor relations.
  • Determines and justifies needs for systems/equipment/supplies purchases, monitors usage, and oversees proper working order and stock supplies.
  • Creates and fosters an environment that encourages professional growth.
  • Integrates evidence-based practices into operations and clinical protocols.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and requirements 
•    License/Education: Applicants should have a current state RN license and possess an associate’s degree from an accredited nursing school. 
•    Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required up on hire. ACLS and PALS preferred. 
•    Experience: Five years in acute care facility preferred, three years in leadership required.
