Full Job Description
The Manager, Technical Services (Rides & Attractions) is responsible for maintaining strategic and daily operational plans for Rides & Attractions within the Technical Services Department. The Manager provides technical guidance for all attractions under his or her area of responsibility. The Manager is responsible for the technical support of the successful specification, design, production, installation, and/or acceptance testing of the Ride & Attraction systems, to include Audio, Special Effects, Projection, Lighting, Set/Scenic, Props, Show Action Equipment, Animated Figures, Ride Mechanical Systems, Ride Control, and Show Control Systems. Responsibilities: • Ensures department understands and follows all company policies and procedures. • Coordinates and assigns technicians to set up, install, repair, and maintain all equipment and venue operations. • Maintains a documentation system for all attractions and ensures a daily report is completed for all activities performed during their assigned shift. • Ensures all Ride & Attraction equipment maintains the highest level of safety in accordance with USH Policies, accepted manufacturing practices and local standards. • Provides technical guidance and mentoring as required to Ride & Attraction Technicians within the day-to-day detailed installation, test, and maintenance activities in the field. Builds strong team cohesion and motivation within the Technical Services Team. • Performs all technical oversight duties and takes on all technical responsibilities in the absence of technical support personnel. • Oversees all technical interaction with Attraction Responsible Engineers, Vendors, Sub-contractors, and other relevant 3rd person parties involved with Show and Ride systems. Develops an open working relationship with Specialty & General Contractors to ensure a clear line of communication regarding installation, test, and maintenance activities. • Enforces Ride & Attraction technical principles to provide a quality product and necessary deliverables to our customers. Supports and advises the Rides & Attractions Assistant Managers and the Rides Senior Director on how best to achieve this goal. • Advises, coordinates, and is accountable to the Senior Manager of Rides & Attractions, the Senior Director of Rides & Attractions, and the Senior Director of Engineering regarding the status and engineering quality of Ride & Attraction systems, including areas of risk or potential future risks. • Ensures that collective bargaining agreements are upheld by partnering with HR and Labor Relations departments to maintain positive union relationships. • Develops and implements action plans for the department's future successes including training programs, workforce planning, and rewards and recognition programs. • Performs other duties as assigned. Salary range: $90,000 - $120,000 (plus bonus) Qualifications • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university in Engineering, Business Administration, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience required. • Minimum of 5 years of day-to-day operation of a theme park, theatre, or related business required. • 3-5 years of operations management/team leadership experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. • Ability and willingness to work weekends and holidays. • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
