Job Summary

Every part that leaves the floor carries a promise: that it will perform when the mission depends on it, and Manager Quality owns that promise. This role leads the Quality Control team on-site, creating a culture around ownership, coaching, and accountability while driving the metrics that prove quality is improving, not just being inspected after the fact. It's a hands-on leadership role that sits at the intersection of the shop floor and the program office: you'll set the standard for inspection rigor, root cause discipline, and nonconformance resolution, and you'll be the voice of Quality Control at the table with the IPTs and the Focus Factory team, keeping requirements airtight without slowing the line down. This is a role for someone who wants to build a team, own real metrics, and see the impact of their leadership on the production floor every day.

Essential Funtions

• Lead and develop the Quality Control team - setting clear expectations, coaching and mentoring inspectors, resolving conflict directly, and building a positive, accountable team culture.
• Monitor key Quality Control metrics - cross-training coverage, rejection trends, inspection turnaround, and escape prevention - and drive corrective actions that deliver sustained, data-driven improvement.
• Lead root cause and corrective action efforts using structured methods (5-Why, Fishbone/Ishikawa, 8D).
• Serve as the cross-functional Quality Control authority, coordinating with the IPTs and Focus Factory team to resolve issues and align priorities without disrupting production flow.
• Support verification of conformance to engineering drawings, specifications, and technical requirements through rigorous dimensional inspection and GD&T interpretation.
• Support compliance with AS9100/ISO 9001 requirements, supporting audits and certification maintenance.
• Evaluate and integrate new inspection technology, automation, and data tools to modernize how the team tracks and reports quality performance.
• Establish and monitor inspection plans, sampling requirements, acceptance criteria, and quality procedures.
• Communicate quality performance, risks, and improvement actions to senior leadership.
• Review production quality trends and implement continuous improvement initiatives.

Required Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience leading or supervising a Quality Control team in a manufacturing or production environment.
• Proficiency in dimensional inspection techniques, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) interpretation, and inspection equipment (CMM, calipers, gauges, optical comparators).
• Working knowledge of AS9100/ISO 9001 requirements and how Quality Control processes support compliance, audits, and certification maintenance.
• Proven ability to lead and validate root cause analysis using structured methods (5-Why, Fishbone/Ishikawa, 8D) and ensure corrective actions are effective and sustained.
• Skilled in Material Review Board (MRB) dispositioning, nonconformance documentation, and escape/containment actions for defective product.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical requirements to verify conformance.
• Competency with quality data tools (e.g., Power BI or similar) to track KPIs and support data-driven decision-making.
• Strong communication, leadership, problem-solving and analytical skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience evaluating emerging inspection technology and integrating AI or automation into Quality Control processes.
• ASQ CMQ/OE certification or Lean Six Sigma Black Belt.
• Proficient with ISO standards, Six Sigma tools, and applied statistics.
