POSITION SUMMARY
The Manager Quality Control is responsible for overseeing and managing the Quality Control (QC) operations within the Appraisal Management division. This position ensures all appraisal-related activities, meet internal quality standards, regulatory compliance requirements, and industry best practices. The QC Manager plays a key leadership role in developing quality strategies, managing staff, and continuously improving appraisal review processes to maintain integrity and customer confidence.
Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities
Quality Control Management & Regulatory Oversight
- Develop, implement, and maintain robust quality control processes in alignment with company objectives and applicable regulatory requirements (e.g., USPAP, Dodd-Frank, FHA, etc.).
- Establish and maintain clear policies and procedures for quality control across all appraisal review functions.
- Monitor daily operations of the QC department to ensure timely, accurate, and consistent quality reviews are performed.
- Analyze quality control data and reporting to identify trends, deficiencies, and areas for improvement.
- Escalate significant QC issues and potential compliance risks to senior leadership in a timely and effective manner.
- Report on quality, turn time, and client driven metrics.
- Maintain documentation of QC procedures, audit results, corrective actions, and training programs.
- Ensure the department remains up to date with evolving regulatory changes and industry standards.
- Support internal and external audits by preparing necessary documentation and facilitating auditor requests.
- Update Engagement Letters to meet client and regulatory standards.
Leadership & Operational Support
- Lead, manage, and mentor the QC team, including hiring, onboarding, training, performance management, and professional development.
- Cross train staff to understand all aspects of the valuation process including order placement, recruiting, vendor management, and procedures.
- Support alternate valuation team with daily goals and overflow.
- Provide feedback and evaluation on current and future capacity needs.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Compliance, Operations, Vendor Management, etc.) to resolve quality concerns and ensure consistent service delivery.
- Maintain and meet with all software providers utilized to enhance quality control procedures and maximize efficiency.
- Attend client calls with staff to review scorecards and maintain a working knowledge of all aspects of the clients’ policies and procedures.
Process Improvement
- Recommend and implement continuous process improvements to enhance accuracy, reduce defects, and optimize departmental efficiency.
- Ability to effectively and accurately convey information to others.
Performs related duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.
- 5+ years of related experience in real estate appraisal quality control, appraisal review, or appraisal operations require.
- 2+ years management experience preferred.
- Prior experience with USPAP standards and agency/investor guidelines, including Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, FHA, and VA requirements required.
- Previously held or currently hold an appraisal license or certification preferred.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements
- Working on-site at assigned office location.
- Regular and punctual attendance adhering to schedule established by leadership.
- Sedentary work in a stationary position at a cubicle for prolonged periods of time.
- Constant repetitive motions required for operating a computer, such as typing and managing phone calls.
- Constantly communicating effectively verbally in English, including accurately exchanging information with others following identification of correct procedures.
