Full Job Description
The Manager, Public Policy will develop and execute advocacy strategies and policy initiatives in support of Amazon's policy priorities related to trade and customs. The Manager will work closely with other public policy teams, Legal, PR, and the relevant business units to ensure alignment with business priorities and goals.

Key job responsibilities

- Engage with U.S. policymakers on trade and customs issues and develop broad government relations strategies.

- Leverage expert understanding of the U.S. legislative and regulatory policymaking processes to advance Amazon's policy priorities.

- Create factual, relevant, and easily understandable talking points and other messaging, and persuasively deliver them to relevant audiences.

- Analyze technical language in legislative and regulatory proposals, identify potential impacts on corporate operations, and synthesize policy documents for internal customers.

- Build and maintain relationships with trade associations, think tanks, advocacy groups, and other relevant external stakeholders to advance public policy objectives.

- An ability and desire to travel is required.

About the team

This role sits within the Public Policy Americas team and will work collaboratively across other public policy teams, Legal, PR, and relevant business units to support policy priorities related to trade and customs. The Manager will report to the Senior Manager, Public Policy.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline (e.g. Law, Political Science, Public Policy, Public Affairs, Economic Development)

- 8+ years of relevant public policy experience, including direct involvement in legislative processes and government relations.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- J.D., or Master's degree

- Highly effective communication skills and experience translating complex policy issues into written materials for diverse audiences (e.g., briefing documents, testimony, public comment letters).

- Demonstrated ability to effectively and comfortably interact and engage at the highest corporate, legislative, regulatory agency, and other government levels.

- Ability to be flexible and demonstrate strong judgment/decision-making skills and political acumen.

- Ability to maintain the highest personal levels of ethical conduct, confidentiality, and integrity in all engagements.

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
