Job Description:

Role Definition 

We are seeking a Product Control Manager position. This person will build, enhance, and maintain manufacturing process instructions, changes, and releases in factory MES. Manages the team responsible for tracking product and process changes, process analytics, process work instructions, and production order releasing. 

 

What You Will Do: 

  • Collaborating with manufacturing and product engineers to provide timely release and implementation of new engines, major product updates and miscellaneous changes. 

  • Establishing priorities and coordinating efforts of the change control team responsible for processing product changes, establishing manufacturing effective dates, creating process instructions, and alignment of production order releasing activities. 

  • Manage team of 3-5 employees in the US and India.  

  • Manage deliverables and budget of offsite contract resources.  

  • Providing specialized expertise and consultation to several product change control groups regarding release practices. 

  • Ensuring adherence to Caterpillar and Industry standards and processes including ODS/CDSA cycle time calculations, Engineering Change Management, New Product Introduction,  

  • Assisting in Virtual Build and Model Review processes.  

  • Interfacing with other facility and legacy ERP/MES systems (CAPP+, SAP, etc.) in addition to our own (PLEX, MAMM, EOMP).  

 

What You Will Have: 

Change Control - MFG: Knowledge of the processes and procedures by which a change is identified, evaluated, approved, monitored and documented; ability to manage changes in the production environment and processes effectively. 

Level Basic Understanding:  

  • Explains the basic purpose of change of control and consequences of lack of control. 

  • Identifies common changes to manufacturing equipment, technologies, and systems. 

  • Describes the process for introducing any change to a production environment. 

  • Describes the associated communication requirements, activities, and authorization levels. 

 

Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment. 

Level Basic Understanding:  

  • Explains characteristics and steps in an effective decision-making process. 

  • Identifies issues and communicates with others when a decision needs to be made. 

  • Names decision makers in own environment and cites examples of past decisions. 

  • Describes types of decisions incumbent may and may not make in own job or function 

 

Manufacturing Processes: Knowledge of existing product manufacturing methods, technologies and processes; ability to execute, plan, manage and monitor the entire manufacturing process. 

Level Basic Understanding: 

  • Describes functional areas in a manufacturing facility. 

  • Describes the roles and responsibilities of manufacturing areas and staff. 

  • Identifies major phases and activities associated with a manufacturing cycle. 

  • Obtains and interprets high-level manufacturing flow and documentation. 

 

Planning and Organizing: Knowledge of the process of planning and arranging tasks and resources; ability to plan and organize both time and resources to get things completed while structuring and maintaining work in a systematic and highly methodical way. 

Level Basic Understanding:  

  • Seeks help to modify priorities as new information surfaces or conditions change. 

  • Demonstrates the ability to estimate the time and resources required to complete tasks. 

  • Identifies own key assignments, schedules, and process steps. 

  • Applies the concept of 'critical path' in order to complete work in a timely manner and keep larger tasks on track.

Summary Pay Range:

$97,530.00 - $146,290.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
