Full Job Description
Objective:
Lead plant procurement for the Consumables Operating unit, including the St. Louis, O'Fallon, and Manchester, MO site, along with the Tijuana site. Ensure uninterrupted supply of direct materials, while delivering measurable cost savings, strong supplier performance and full compliance. Own and execute sourcing, contracting and supplier management activities in partnership with cross-functional stakeholders.

Responsibilities:
  • Plant Procurement Leadership: Own the end-to-end procurement strategy and execution for the Consumables Operating Unit sites to support production plans, new product introductions, and maintenance and engineering requirements.
  • People & Team Leadership: Lead, coach, and develop a team of plant buyers. Establish clear priorities, standard work, and performance expectations, and ensure effective coverage for ordering, expediting, and issue resolution. Drive adoption of AI and digital tools to improve team efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Strategic Sourcing, Bidding & Contracting: Lead RFx and competitive bidding events, supplier selection, negotiations, and contract execution for plant spend. Partner closely with Legal and Corporate Procurement to ensure appropriate terms, compliance, and governance.
  • Direct Procurement: Manage sourcing and replenishment of production materials and critical components. Coordinate with Planning and Operations to align supply with MPS/MRP plans and respond quickly to demand or schedule changes.
  • Indirect Procurement: Support site operational spend by ensuring cost competitiveness, service levels, and adherence to preferred supplier programs and procurement standards.
  • Supply Continuity & Expediting: Ensure continuity of supply through proactive supplier communication, lead-time and capacity management, and structured escalation processes to protect customer service and plant output.
  • Cost Savings & Value Delivery: Identify, execute, and track cost-reduction and cost-avoidance initiatives. Develop business cases and align savings recognition with Finance.
  • Financial Reporting & Controls: Provide regular reporting on spend, savings, PPV and price changes, open orders, and key procurement KPIs. Support budget cycles, forecasting, audit readiness, and internal controls.
  • Supplier Performance Management: Define and manage supplier KPIs (e.g., on-time delivery, quality, lead time, responsiveness, and cost). Lead supplier business reviews, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives in partnership with Quality and Operations.
  • Risk Management & Compliance: Identify, assess, and mitigate supply risks-including single-source, capacity, quality, geopolitical, and financial risks-through dual sourcing, safety stock strategies, qualification plans, and business continuity measures. Ensure compliance with plant and corporate procurement policies, quality requirements, and applicable regulations.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with Operations, Engineering, Quality, R&D, Finance, Supply Chain, and corporate functions to translate requirements into sourcing actions, support change control, and enable successful product and process changes.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree (MS or MBA) and professional certifications (CPM, CPIM) preferred
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in sourcing and procurement
  • Demonstrated track record of delivering cost reductions through effective sourcing and negotiation
  • Proven experience negotiating complex supply and service agreements
  • Strong understanding of supplier performance metrics and procurement KPIs
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to engage effectively at all organizational levels
  • Proven people leader with experience developing high-performing procurement teams
  • Ability to develop and execute procurement strategies across both direct and indirect categories
  • Strong critical-thinking skills, ability to manage multiple priorities, and a sense of urgency in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
