Full Job Description
Position Summary

Contribute to the development and execution of communications strategies and tactics that advance the organization's policy goals including earned and digital media efforts, grassroots mobilization, messaging development and project management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain relationships with media covering core portfolio issues, attend in-person events across the DMV, and monitor inside-the-beltway media coverage to understand and react to news cycles. (Experience supporting artificial intelligence, connectivity, cybersecurity, data privacy and/or other rapidly evolving policy issues preferred.)
  • Work cross functionally with the Marketing and Communications team and Government and Legislative Affairs team to pitch and promote CTA policy initiatives, activities and public policy positions and plan for proactive campaigns and media engagement.
  • Develop and maintain media lists, messaging documents, digital materials, and other content repositories.
  • Collaborate with internal staff and external partners to develop digital messaging frameworks, positioning and appeals based on target personas to engage key audiences.
  • Serve as project manager for Marketing and Communications elements of CTA Tech Week and CTA Innovation Scorecards.
  • Integrate innovative partnerships and help identify tools and technology to further bolster CTA's communications and advocacy efforts.
  • Manage the CTA communications budget, including managing outside vendors.
  • Staff interviews with CTA experts and executives and, when appropriate and as directed, serve as CTA/CES spokesperson.
  • Other duties as required by business needs.


Qualifications

Required

  • 5-7 years' experience in communications and/or digital advocacy.
  • Preference given to Capitol Hill and/or agency experience.


Education/Trainings:

  • Bachelor's Degree (Communications, Political Science, English or Journalism concentration) and/or relevant PR experience.


Skills/Capabilities/Technical:

  • Strong writing capabilities.
  • Understanding of legislative process and overall political and policy landscape.
  • Comfort with social media writing and engagement.
  • Fluency with basic AI tools.
  • Ability to multitask across departments and teams with competing deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products and social and earned media monitoring tools.


Additional Information:

  • Help monitor department budget.
  • Manage contracts and subscriptions.
  • Position reports to Director, Policy Communications.
  • Travel to CES is required; may involve other occasional travel.


Compensation & Benefits
CTA is committed to transparency and equitable pay practices. The anticipated salary range for this position is $100,000 - $115,000, with final compensation determined based on experience, skills, and internal equity. This role may be eligible for bonus or additional compensation, where applicable.
