Job Title:Manager, Pharmacy Services

This position oversees the Medication Safety and Center for Drug Policy programs across the pharmacy enterprise. The position will be responsible for executing the vision and goals for these areas.
Specific deliverables include:
- Coordinate the provision of evidence-based drug information regarding medication use, policy, regulatory requirements, and clinical practice to pharmacy staff, other healthcare providers, patients, consumers, and other associated personnel; serve as the primary drug information pharmacist contact for the James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute.
- Implement mitigation strategies to effectively avoid or overcome drug shortages
- Provide drug information recommendations for alternative therapies required in response to drug shortages and supply scarcity
- Oversee formulary management and serve as an expert resource to the Pharmacy and Therapeutics (P&T) Committees
- Facilitate Medication Safety and Policy P&T Subcommittee proceedings
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical content on the pharmacy intranet
- Facilitate the development of medication-use and medication safety related initiatives
- Oversee clinical decisions that drive IHIS content and default settings serving as a primary contact for the IHIS build teams
- Lead in the development, review, and implementation of medication-related components of prescribing practice guidelines and care protocols to ensure medication safety and improved outcomes
- Lead financial savings initiatives involving formulary decision making, medication use, and technology services
- Develop and maintain policies and procedures for pharmacy services. Provide pharmaceutical knowledge and recommendations to nursing for policy and procedure updates, upon request.
- Direct the analysis of Adverse Drug Events and medication use trends; identify and coordinate process changes in response to preparation/dispensing errors, regulatory requirements, and emerging medication safety literature
- Review and report on product quality issues, including documentation per Drug Supply Chain Security Act (DSCSA)
- Approve supply chain requests for substitution or switch in preferred formulations or presentations of medications
- Participate in the Vizient Strategic Sourcing Solution (TS3) group purchasing organization pharmacy aggregation group as representative of the Center for Drug Policy, including formulary management details and drug information around therapeutic interchanges
- Manage and develop pharmacists and pharmacy interns in the Medication Safety and Center for Drug Policy programs
- Lead and/or contribute to the work of appropriate health system and/or departmental committees
- Direct the experiential program content and assignment of pharmacy students, interns and residents as it relates to medication use safety, formulary management and drug information.
