Responsibilities

  • Supervise Clinical Pharmacists and oversee their professional responsibilities
  • Assist the Director of Pharmacy in clinical pharmacy services
  • Represent the Pharmacy in interactions with nursing and medical staff
  • Ensure safe and effective use of pharmaceuticals within the hospital
  • Manage pharmacy practice functions, including the P&T and AMP committees
  • Develop and implement clinical intervention goals
  • Conduct medication use evaluations and promote medication safety

Job Summary and Qualifications

The Manager Pharmacy supervises the Clinical Pharmacists in the execution of their professional responsibilities of the Pharmacist in all aspects of professional operations. This supervision includes but is not limited to oversight of clinical work, disciplinary counseling, evaluations, and staff scheduling as needed. The Clinical Manager shall assist the Director Pharmacy in all aspects of Clinical Pharmacy Services - as both a provider when needed and as a Supervisor of the services offered. The Manager will also represent the Pharmacy frequently during interactions with both Nursing and the Medical Staff. During these situations the Clinical Manager should be focused on the safe and effective use of pharmaceuticals. The Manager assists the Director with maintenance of high-quality pharmaceutical care services, and seeks to advance the pharmacy professional impact within the hospital/healthcare setting. In general, the Clinical Manager will be responsible for items including but not limited to P&T committee, AMP Committee, Formulary management, education, PharmD preceptorship, clinical intervention goal setting and analysis, core measures, infection control, medication safety, performance improvement, medication use evaluations, policies & procedures as related to clinical pharmacy services.

What qualifications you will need:

  • Graduate of an accredited School or College of Pharmacy, PharmD or BS Pharmacy with acquired experience/competency, Post Graduate Degree (Business, Management, Health Administration) and/or completion of a Pharmacy Residency seen as advantageous
  • Current Pharmacist Licensure in the State of Georgia required; Board Certification preferred
  • 5+ years of demonstrating increasing levels of leadership responsibility and accountability for origination, participation and control of a variety of contemporary clinical pharmacy practice applications required
