Full Job Description
Responsible for overseeing the daily operation of assigned unit(s) to ensure high-quality, compassionate, and efficient patient care. Responsible for leading and developing staff, managing budgets, ensuring regulatory compliance, and collaborating with multidisciplinary team to optimize patient outcomes and satisfaction.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  1. Maintains operational responsibility for nursing and health care services on the unit.
  2. Promotes positive customer relations with physicians, patients, families, visitors and employees. Follows up on complaints and provides feedback. Monitors level of patient, staff and physician satisfaction.
  3. Promotes collaboration regarding patient care issues with various staff levels and disciplines.
  4. In collaboration with other members of the leadership team and the Education Staff, ensure staff participation in orientation, mandatory and continuing education programs and other staff development opportunities.
  5. Plans unit conferences, educational endeavors, and in-service meetings for staff.
  6. Ensures quality and appropriateness of care is maintained/monitored and relevant action plans are developed and implemented.
  7. Utilizes objective measurement tools to evaluate the quality of nursing care delivered to patients serviced.
  8. Assures appropriate delegation and supervision of patient care.
  9. Assists with implementation, maintenance and monitoring of capital needs and operating budgets for patient care services area.
  10. Responsible for human resource management through interviewing, selecting, orienting, precepting, scheduling, assessing educational skills, coaching, counseling, disciplining and evaluation of staff.
  11. Responsible for analyzing, monitoring, and implementing appropriate customer service techniques on assigned unit.
  12. Maintains optimal nursing practice through planned and continuous professional growth and development, seeking out new learning experiences and maintains knowledge of current trends or nursing care practices and management methods.
  13. Maintains regulatory readiness.
  14. Performs other duties as required or requested.


Qualifications:

Required:
• Bachelor's degree in nursing with a minimum of 3 years nursing-related experience

OR associate's degree with 5 years of nursing-related experience
• Licensed as a Registered Nurse to practice nursing in Michigan
• BLS Certification

Preferred:
• Master's degree in a related program
• A minimum of 2 years' leadership experience
• ACLS Certification
