Job Requirements

General Summary

Under limited supervision, plans, organizes, coordinates, and manages the day-to-day operations of the department. Includes developing policies, procedures, goals and methods to achieve these goals. Manages business systems support, billing, collections and cash applications. The overall objective is to reduce un-compensated care.

Principal Responsibilities and Tasks

The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this classification. They are not to be construed as an exhaustive list of all job duties performed by personnel so classified.

1. Supervises directly or indirectly, exempt and nonexempt personnel engaged in the department. This includes interviewing, hiring, performance evaluation, training and disciplining all system support personnel. Delegates authority as determined appropriate.

2. Provides a goal-oriented work environment, establishing clear and concise work procedures expectations. Develops and plans goals and objectives for the department with Director and Management Team.

3. Monitors departmental performance to ensure accurate and timely procedures on patient accounts.

4. Establishes and implements a fair and appropriate incentive system in collaboration with the Project Director.

5. Prepares performance reports and distributes to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the department.

6. Ensures office environment and facilities are maintained in an orderly fashion and conducive to efficient operations. Develops and maintains contacts as necessary.

7. Responsible for all personnel and payroll matters for the department, and maintains all related records.

8. Conducts meetings on a periodic basis or otherwise as needed to maintain efficient and effective operation of department personnel.

9. Works closely with executive level management. Participates in meetings and committees related to functions, and represents the department as necessary.

Work Experience

Education and Experience

1. Bachelor's degree in business or related field, or equivalent directly related experience required.

2.Three years of relevant experience in health care/hospital, with knowledge of collections and billing required.

3. Four years of lead/supervisory/management experience required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

1. Demonstrated expertise in management operations including but not limited to managing, supervising, directing, and monitoring the daily work activities of subordinate personnel.

2. Must demonstrate ability to perform responsibilities in a fast paced, work environment, requiring excellent organizational skills, sound judgement, and critical decision making.

3. Demonstrated technical expertise with computer hardware, software and database management functions and duties.

4. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are necessary to successfully perform all managerial responsibilities.
