Job Details

Job Summary:The Manager - Safety & OSHA Compliance shall demonstrate the ability to complete assignments in an efficient manner requiring full use and application of Occupational, Health and Safety knowledge. Scope of work includes problem solving skills for a variety of scenarios requiring originality and ingenuity. Position works with minimal supervision and may be assigned to special projects or tasks as needed. Position will be expected to provide coaching and guidance to chemical transportation, vehicle maintenance, transloading, depots, and tank cleaning operations.

This position will be responsible for managing occupational, health and safety processes at all company owned facilities in the region as well as helping to protect the company's interests at partner facilities as needed. Additionally the incumbent will work to support and drive the creation of a strong safety culture that engages employees in the achievement of reducing injuries and incidents at our facilities.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Provide guidance and direction to local management and personnel on occupational safety, industrial hygiene, and other health & safety issues.
  • Participate in change management processes and process hazard analyses to identify health & safety issues and opportunities.
  • Identify action-based goals for local leadership team members to support achievement of targets and objectives.
  • Take the lead in incident investigations, root cause analysis, and action item completion. Complete/close out items as assigned.
  • Assist with implementation of the industrial hygiene program, including identification of job tasks requiring sampling as needed.
  • Develop and periodically review site procedures relating to vehicle maintenance, rail transfer, tank cleaning, depot services, and chemical transportation operations.
  • Conduct site inspections, compliance audits, and management systems audits.
  • Develop and update emergency action plans for all facilities in the assigned region.
  • Provide content for site-specific training programs and conduct training as necessary.
  • Provide content for safety meetings and tool-box topics. Conduct webinars with field leadership and personnel as required.
  • Assist in designing programs to control, eliminate and prevent disease or injury.
  • Develop and/or provide training on new regulations affecting operations.
  • Assist facilities with the preparation of annual management system audits and compliance inspections.

Requirements

Skills/Abilities:

  • Working knowledge in regulatory and technical aspects of Occupational Safety (General Industry), Industrial Hygiene & Management Systems
  • Experience in vehicle maintenance, rail, and chemical safety is desired.
  • Working knowledge of cross-functional H&S disciplines
  • Ability to lead and support cross-functional process improvement teams
  • Ability to act as a change agent. Effective in enabling and driving change
  • Ability to effectively communicate (verbal and written) with clarity, impact and passion
  • Ability to conduct behavior-based safety observations


Education and Experience:

  • Must have 5 - 7 years of H&S experience, either as an H&S professional or in a role requiring detailed knowledge of H&S requirements.
  • Experience with incident investigation and root cause analysis and development of JSA/JHAS is required.
  • Experience understanding and applying regulations is highly desired.
  • The ability to speak and write in Spanish is desirable.


Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time remote position, and days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Travel: 50%
