Full Job Description
We are currently seeking a Compression Manager to join our Canada Gas Operations - Wood Buffalo team, based in Lac La Biche, Alberta.

Reporting to the Senior Operations Manager for Northern Alberta, Canada Gas Operations, this position is primarily responsible for overseeing the safe, compliant, reliable operations and maintenance of TC Energy's Compression assets in the Wood Buffalo region.

What you will do:
  • Provide leadership and continuously improve your team's business performance in terms of health, safety and environment, regulatory compliance, reliability and productivity
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant federal, provincial, and local regulatory requirements and company policies and procedures pertaining to operations and maintenance
  • Ensure the effective turnover of new capital projects to operations
  • Understand and manage facility risks, reliability and performance
  • Implement Canada Gas Operations strategies and understand their commercial impacts
  • Effectively manage all resources, including people, finances, materials and time to ensure maximum efficiency in planning, forecasting, and implementation
  • Develop and foster an environment which actively enables and encourages employee innovation, continuous improvement, and commitment to operational performance
  • Actively participate in the development of goals and objectives from Lines of Business (LOB) to the Area level, and lead efforts to achieve these goals within the Area
  • Manage Operations and Maintenance contracts, understand Commercial Agreements and Asset Management Plans
  • Work effectively and collaborate with peers to optimize regional results and contribute to company success
  • Ensure that TC Energy maintains a positive and visible image within communities across the Area and actively engage with key stakeholders
  • Manage and coordinate emergency response activities, including participation in on-call rotation to respond to emergency situations


As a Leader in the Area of Field Operations, you will be required to:
  • Build a strong, competent, proactive and engaged team
  • Be responsible for staff development and succession planning for your team
  • Provide team members with effective mentoring, feedback and coaching with appropriate rewards and recognition
  • Continue to develop your leadership competencies while maintaining a current knowledge of company business, strategy, goals and objectives
  • Manage and coordinate emergency response with a requirement to be on call and, to respond to emergency situations
  • Travel to various field and office locations across the line of business (LOB) to meet with team members and other field staff, up to a 30%-time commitment


As a member of the NGTL Line of Business (LOB) Leadership Team, you will be required to:
  • Work collaboratively to establish the LOB's priorities, strategy, goals and business plan
  • Commit to the execution of the LOB's business plan
  • Represent TC Energy and foster critical partnerships both internally and externally
  • Be a champion of change initiatives
  • Participate in CGO initiatives and manage issues when required


Minimum Qualifications
  • Post-Secondary education in a relevant field of study
  • 10 years of relevant work experience; an equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered
  • Demonstrated leadership in health, safety, and environment, change management, employee development, performance management, and team building areas


Preferred Qualifications
  • An excellent track record of development and execution of plans
  • Experience with conflict resolution and problem-solving tools and processes
  • Experience in effective resource allocation and utilization in the financial, people and procurement areas
  • Knowledge and familiarity with TC Energy's business vision, strategies, practices, processes and systems
  • Related experience preferably in a managerial or leadership type setting
  • Knowledge of TC Energy's Leadership competencies and a commitment to career development


This position requires the candidates to
  • Successfully complete pre-employment medical screening including drug and alcohol testing
  • Have and maintain a valid driver's license and provide a driver's abstract (record) for review
  • This will involve some travel and overnight stays away from home base


Relocation Eligibility: This position is eligible for our domestic relocation program
