DescriptionWe are looking to hire a passionate, mission-oriented, driven Operations Manager to be responsible for leading and working alongside a team of service technicians and specialists at an Outpost that delivers exception customer service while installing and servicing systems and collecting soil samples for analysis. This role may also be overseeing several different Outpost locations. This is a leadership and in-field role that will be responsible for direct management of personnel, ensuring employee health, safety, and environmental compliance, coordinating with growers, and performing in-field services. The expected distribution of time between administrative work and in-field work is 40/60 but can vary based on needs. The position includes the use of a company vehicle for work-related activities.
This role will report to Director of Operations.
Key Responsibilities• Lead MyLand operations in adherence to the company's core values.
- Deliver exceptional customer service by managing the relationship between growers and operations employees, insuring great communication.
- Perform in-field service and activities including system installation, service, troubleshooting and soil sampling up to 60% of the time.
• Direct, manage and execute safe and efficient operation and allocation of MyLand systems and resources.
- Deploy and maintain the O&M strategy for MyLand operating assets assigned to the Outpost(s).
• Implement and improve standardized procedures for routine and corrective maintenance, site evaluations, system installations, soil sampling, and remote operations to maximize operational efficiency.
• Perform Quality Assurance/Quality Control checks on operations procedures and assets.
• Support budgeting for multiple projects, monitoring and controlling costs. Including expenses incurred by technicians.
• Manage and implement the safety program and policies to ensure operational and corporate compliance with OSHA and other government regulations and requirements.
- Direct and manage the staffing, safety, development, and training of operations personnel to Outpost(s)
- Manage and lead continuous improvements of operations with all other functional departments.
- Coordinate the execution of site evaluations and site installations, supporting other Outposts as needed. Including coordination of all logistics, equipment rental/deliveries, and site-specific tasks.
- Serve as a technical expert for the regional team of Service Technicians.
- Update and keep current reports for area of responsibility.
- Monitor FSM usage of direct reports.
- Maintain responsibility for Outpost infrastructure and site management.
- Maintain proper levels of inventory and consumables for area of responsibility.
- Fleet & MyLand Equipment Management (truck maintenance, equipment maintenance, etc.)
- Spearhead learning and training upcoming innovations and initiatives.
RequirementsSkills & Qualifications• At least five years of experience in an operational role and at least three years of leadership experience.
• Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, agriculture, or a related field is preferred and may count toward 4 years of experience.
• Prior agriculture industry experience is preferred.
• Effective written and verbal communication with the ability to interact with senior managers, investors, growers, as well as with other managerial and technical employees.
• Must be a self-starter that is able to work with minimal supervision, evaluate risks, and make decisions to resolve issues with limited information.
• Experience in driving a safety culture.
• Ability to safely install, repair, service, test, and troubleshoot plumbing, mechanical, and low-voltage electrical equipment.
• Working knowledge of hand and power tools and personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Must be able to utilize computers and electronic equipment to plan, schedule, and document work and inventory.
• Able to perform root cause problem solving and implement corrective actions.
• Proficient computer skills with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Power Point, Outlook, and Excel).
• Must possess a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a forklift certification.
• Must be able to lift, carry, transport equipment, tools, and materials up to 50 lbs.
• Must be able to sit, stand, and kneel/squat for extended periods of time.
• Must be able to work for extended periods of time outside in both hot and cold temperatures.
