Job Overview

Fairview Range is hiring a Manager (RN) for our Women's Health and Birth Center team in Hibbing, MN.

The Manager will oversee a twenty-four hour a day management responsibility and accountability for nursing care delivery, human resources, operation, financial, and quality improvement for the Women's Health and Birth Center.

Schedule: This position is full-time, 80 hours per two weeks, 8-hour mostly day hours but could also include evenings and overnights. Weekends: As needed.

  • 10 beds, including 4 private labor and delivery suites
  • C-section suite within the unit
  • More than 200 baby deliveries annually
  • IBCLC trained staff within department
  • Care team includes OB Physicians, Maternal Fetal Medicine Physicians, Family Practice Physicians, CRNAs, RNs, Unit Assistants.

As a Registered Nurse in Women's Health and Birth Center you will:
  • Oversees the departmental operations to assure safe, quality, satisfying patient care
  • Participates in ongoing activities to foster education and research in Obstetrical nursing practice
  • Fosters a collaborative and positive working relationship with the interdisciplinary team members providing patient care on the Women's Health and Birth Center
  • Assures standards of care for nursing are delivered on the Women's Health and Birth Center
  • Facilitates opportunities to improve patient outcomes for admissions, care planning, discharge planning, etc.
  • Assures the nursing staff practice according to the Minnesota Nurse Practice Act
  • Utilizes a value-based method when recruiting, interviewing, and selecting qualified employees
  • Participates in formal retention and recognition activities.
  • Develops and implements department specific orientation/education/competency programs
  • Provides staff with education and resources to deliver evidenced based programs
  • Assures staff completion of organizational and department educational requirements
  • Conducts monthly unit meetings and identifies ongoing communication methods to keep the employees informed regarding the organizational strategic plans
  • Demonstrates staff accountability for customer service, patient safety, quality and patient satisfaction
  • Develops position descriptions/evaluations/essential functions for all job categories utilizing staff input.
  • Communicates clear, concise expectations and demonstrates accountability for employee performance by coaching, mentoring, and initiating disciplinary action when appropriate
  • Demonstrates just culture concepts to promote a safe, positive working environment
  • Completes a written, annual performance evaluation for each employee and communicates performance outcomes, including completion of an improvement plan when appropriate
  • Update position descriptions to identify current practice/operations
  • Promotes and role models teamwork and positive working relationships
  • Encourages/facilitates problem solving between individuals and groups
  • Ensures unit activities are conducted in compliance with regulatory requirement and organizational policies
  • Prepares an annual operating and capital budget for each cost center
  • Demonstrates resource utilization which supports delivery of quality services in the most cost-effective and efficient manner
  • Identifies variances from the budgeted parameters, and develops action plans to correct the variances.
  • Complies with policies and standards
  • Performs other duties as assigned


Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or willing to complete within two years
  • 3 years OB experience.
  • MN Registered Nurse (RN) License
  • Certification in nursing specialty within 1 Year
  • Basic Life Support (American Heart Assoc or Red Cross)

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (American Heart Assoc) within 180 Days

  • Advanced fetal monitoring
  • 5 years OB experience
