Job OverviewFairview Range is hiring a Manager (RN) for our Surgical Services team in Hibbing, MN.The Manager will oversee twenty-four hour per day management responsibility and accountability for nursing care delivery, human resources, operation, financial, and quality improvement for the surgical unit. The Manager will ensure both quality and regulatory compliance takes place; educational opportunities are provided as well as maintaining clinical competencies of staff; and oversee financial management. They will serve as a leader and role model to all staff.
Schedule: This position is full-time, 80 hours per two weeks, 8-hour mostly day hours but could also include evenings and overnights. Weekends: As needed.

As the Manager of Surgical Services, you will:
- Utilize the nursing process in problem solving.
- Serves as a role model for all staff.
- Manages change using a planned, orderly approach.
- Demonstrates ability to implement problem-solving mechanisms in both routine and emergency situations.
- Delegates appropriate tasks to staff.
- Ensures implementation and development of standards of practice in patient care that reflect valid research findings.
- Develops and implements department specific orientation / education / competency programs.
- Provide staff with education and resources to deliver evidenced based programs.
- Assures staff completion of organizational and department educational requirements.
- Conducts monthly unit meetings and identifies ongoing communication methods to keep the employees informed regarding the organizational strategic plans.
- Demonstrates staff accountability for customer service, patient safety, quality, and patient satisfaction.
- Participates on committee assignments.
- Communicates clear, concise expectations and demonstrates accountability for employee performance by coaching, mentoring, and initiating disciplinary action when appropriate.
- Encourages/facilitates problem solving between individuals and groups.
- Ensures unit activities are conducted in compliance with regulatory requirements and organizational policies
- Establishes and maintains current policies and procedures for the department.
- Utilizes data analysis to make departmental changes.
- Aware of TJC, Department of Health and licensure requirements.
- Evaluates, develops, and revises clinical systems to assure regulatory compliance.
- Promotes effective labor relations practices.
- Is familiar with union contracts and participates in resolution of grievance as applicable.
- Develops and/or provides input into budget for assigned area(s) according to established procedures.
- Maintains appropriate staffing levels as evidenced by budgetary analysis and/or unit indicators.
- Implement and communicates Human Resources policies and procedures in a fair and consistent manner.
- Exemplifies excellent customer relations in interactions with patients, visitors, physicians, and employees.
- Oversees the departmental operations to assure safe, quality, satisfying patient care.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Complies with policies and standards.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Arts in Nursing or related field (If Bachelor's is not in nursing, then must have master's degree in nursing)
- 2 years surgical services clinical nursing experience
- MN Registered Nurse (RN) License
- Current Certification in Surgical Services, or willing to obtain within 2 Yrs
- Basic Life Support (American Heart Assoc or Red Cross)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (American Heart Assoc)
- Pediatric Adv Life Support (American Heart Assoc)
- ICS 100, 200, and 700 certifications, or willing to achieve within 1 Year
