OPPORTUNITY

The Manager of Shop Operations – Nuclear reports to the site Plant Manager and leads a specific manufacturing unit. This role is responsible for delivering daily operating results while building a culture of continuous improvement, clear communication, standard work, employee empowerment, and compliance with safety and quality requirements.

RESPONSIBILITIES

·     Lead a manufacturing unit with approximately $45 million in revenue and manage day-to-day operations to achieve defined safety, quality, delivery, inventory, productivity, and cost targets.

·     Lead, coach, and manage a team of ~20 direct reports, including chemists, production leaders, and manufacturing technicians.

·     Own the employee lifecycle for direct reports, including hiring, onboarding, training and development, performance management, employee relations, and, when required, disciplinary actions and terminations.

·     Develop and manage daily and weekly operating plans, production schedules, and priorities; revise plans in response to equipment failures, operating issues, and expedite requests.

·     Identify and resolve bottlenecks, coordinate workflow, and balance multiple priorities to meet daily production targets and customer demand.

·     Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly operating meetings across functions and organizational levels.

·     Develop and maintain a departmental cross-training program; monitor employee qualifications and training to ensure compliance with quality policies.

·     Prioritize and coordinate support from planning and buying, project engineering, technology engineering, quality engineering, inspection, and other functions to support production goals and improvements.

·     Sponsor, monitor, and validate improvements to products, processes, drawings, standard operating procedures, and manufacturing procedures.

·     Monitor non-conformance reports (NCRs) to support material flow and short- and long-term improvements in process performance and yield.

·     Partner with the CBS manager to deploy CBS tools and best practices, including visual management and 6S.

·     Collaborate with the technology function and manufacturing engineering on engineering change notice (ECN) execution, router creation, and implementation.

Required Qualifications

·     Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college, or a high school diploma/GED with at least five years of manufacturing experience.

·     Minimum of three additional years of experience in operations or manufacturing management.

·     Ability to read and follow drawings, schematics, and procedures.

·     Demonstrated ability to lead multiple projects and operational priorities simultaneously.

·     Strong oral and written communication, analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.

·     Ability to handle confidential information discreetly and professionally.

·     Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Word.

Preferred Qualifications

·     Strong manufacturing and process background.

·     Experience building a culture of trust, teamwork, accountability, and employee development.

·     Background in machining, welding, and soldering.

·     Lean manufacturing experience.

·     Knowledge of SAP business systems.
