Manager of Operations (Treatment Plants)

Are you ready to take the next step in your career as a leader at Colorado Springs Utilities? Do you have experience with and a passion for leading, coaching, and developing others while driving meaningful operational and organizational results? We are seeking a people-focused, results-driven individual to lead our people and operations at our Resource Recovery Facilities and our Water Treatment Plants.

Key Responsibilities Include...
  • Leading and developing staff in ways that build and sustain trust, engagement, professional growth, and results
  • Developing, evaluating, and implementing strategies to meet the future needs of our treatment plants
  • Directing resources to meet current and forecasted operational demands
  • Establishing, prioritizing, and overseeing the execution of major work plans, projects, and programs
  • Establishing policies, procedures, processes, and practices to optimize functionality and ensure standards of safety, efficiency, and quality are met
  • Planning for and integrating regulatory requirements into operational plans
  • Overseeing budget preparations and adapting plans and priorities to address resource and operational challenges
  • Providing recommendations related to system expansion to meet load and demand forecasting, and to ensure service reliability
  • Identifying opportunities for continuous improvement and performing associated planning activities to maintain appropriate structures, resource requirements, policies, and processes to ensure current and future operational requirements are met

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
  • Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly (2/3 or more of the time) to move objects. Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for Sedentary work. Even though the weight lifted may be of only negligible amount, a job should be rated Light Work: (1) when it requires walking or standing to a significant degree; or (2) when it requires sitting most of the time but entails pushing and/or pulling of arm or leg controls; and/or (3) when the job requires a production rate pace entailing the constant pushing and/or pulling of materials even though the weight of those is negligible.
  • Positions in this class typically require climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions. Incumbents may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, vibrations, fumes, odors, dusts, gases, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, workspace restrictions and intense noises.
