R. J. Corman Railroad Company is currently seeking a
Manager of Mechanical Training & Operating Compliance to join our team in
Nicholasville, KY. Responsibilities:- Lead and support mechanical safety programs across railroad operations.
- Develop and deliver safety training for mechanical employees and oversee training records, certifications, and compliance requirements.
- Ensure compliance with FRA, OSHA, GCOR, AAR and company safety standards.
- Conduct safety audits, inspections, job observations, and compliance reviews.
- Lead investigations involving incidents, injuries, accidents, and near misses; identify root causes and corrective actions.
- Partner with mechanical leadership to implement safety initiatives, policies, and continuous improvement efforts.
- Monitor regulatory changes and recommend updates to safety programs and procedures.
- Analyze safety performance metrics and prepare compliance reports.
- Participate in risk assessments and hazard mitigation activities.
- Support special projects, emergency response efforts, and other duties as assigned.
- Travel up to 80% as business needs require.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Specialized or Technical Knowledge, or Education and Experience:- Bachelor's degree in Safety, Engineering, Railroad Operations, or related field; equivalent railroad experience may be considered.
- Railroad management or operations experience.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical department operations and railroad safety regulations.
- Experience delivering technical and safety training.
- Experience conducting audits, incident investigations, and compliance reviews.
- Strong communication, leadership, coaching, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and reporting systems.
- Valid Driver's License required.
- CSP, ASP, OHST, CHST, or similar certification preferred.
Physical Requirements:- Ability to work in rail yards, locomotive shops, and outdoor environments.
- Frequent walking on ballast and uneven terrain.
- Ability to stand, climb, bend, and inspect equipment for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
Environmental Conditions:- Exposure to rail operations, moving equipment, shop environments, noise, and varying weather conditions.
- Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Frequent travel and overnight stays.
