Position Summary

Plans, organizes, and directs Laboratory support activities to include but not limited to Central Processing, Phlebotomy services, Laboratory send outs, Laboratory Outreach and Laboratory billing.

Schedule: Dayshift, Monday - Friday

What you will do
  • The Laboratory Support Manager is responsible for monitoring laboratory operations daily to ensure quality levels of performance are maintained and compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Develops goals and objectives.
  • Establishes and implements policies and procedures for department operations to assure proper resource utilization, service standards, and compliance with regulatory and accrediting agency requirements.
  • Responsible for the management of all staff in Laboratory support related functions. Reviews departmental performance and implements changes as necessary to improve services and simplify workflows to increase physician, patient, and team satisfaction.
  • Develops and implements appropriate new billing, via CDM maintenance.
  • Develops and implements billing edits, via work queue assignments.
  • Keeps administration informed of department activities, needs, and problems.
  • Handles unresolved customer complaints and concerns while working to increase overall customer satisfaction.
  • Prepares departmental budget and ensures department operates within allocated expense structure.
  • Establishes and maintains intra/interdepartmental communication. Participates in management meetings and attends other meetings as necessary.
  • Develops and maintains records, reports, and files.
  • Establishes and maintains safety, policies, procedures, objectives, and infection control in the department.
  • Responsible for the following functions: account maintenance; Mentor; on-site training; timekeeping/payroll reports; quality assurance; coaching plans; staff coverage; daily coaching; personnel issues and staff development; productivity; and maintaining JCAHO/CAP requirements.
  • Ensures implementation of process improvements
  • Manages various personnel functions including hiring, work assignments, coaching plans, and disciplinary actions.
  • Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
  • Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
  • Handles special projects, as necessary.
  • Assumes responsibility for professional growth, development, and continuing education.
  • Conducts department meetings/in-services.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Completes all mandatory education.

Qualifications

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, Finance or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or a total of four (4) years' experience on a 1:1 basis. (Offsetting experience must be in the field of Healthcare/Laboratory Services)
  • Total of four (4) years of Laboratory experience is required.
