Opportunity

The Manager of Internal Communications plays a key role in supporting a well informed, engaged, and connected workforce across the Firm. This position is responsible for shaping internal communications strategy, translating business priorities into clear and compelling messaging, and partnering with senior leaders to reinforce Manatt’s culture and strategic direction.

Serving as both a trusted advisor and hands-on executor, the role oversees leadership communications and internal channels while supporting major firmwide initiatives and change efforts. The Manager of Internal Communications reports to the Director of Communications and is part of the Client Development and Marketing team.  This position will work closely with Firm leadership, business professional leaders, the Marketing Department and other stakeholders to ensure communications are timely, clear, and aligned with the Firm’s values. This is a new role that will evolve with the Firm’s strategic growth agenda.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute an enterprise-wide internal communications strategy aligned with firm priorities, culture, and values.

  • Translate strategic initiatives, firm priorities and leadership messaging into clear, engaging and dynamic internal content for multiple audiences across multiple platforms

  • Coordinate and partner closely with Marketing Leadership team on all activities to ensure alignment on strategies, messaging and resources

  • Own the drafting, editing and coordination of firmwide internal communications aligned with Manatt’s internal communications framework and messaging priorities

  • Ensure consistency in tone, branding and messaging across internal communications, while reducing redundancy and email fatigue

  • Partner with department colleagues to support internal communications planning, execution and continuous improvement

  • Support development, execution and maintenance of a firmwide internal communications framework, including calendars, governance, and coordination processes, as well as a predictable leadership communications cadence, including quarterly firmwide updates and key milestone communications

  • Draft and adapt content for multiple internal channels, including intranet, office signage, email, video and other office‑based communications

  • Draft and coordinate CEO‑led internal messages, ensuring effective cascade and reinforcement across Firm

  • Serve as a strategic partner to departments, helping them align their internal communications with firmwide messaging while maintaining ownership of content

  • Assist in developing templates, guidelines and best practices that empower departments to communicate independently within a consistent framework

  • Measure the effectiveness of internal communications and refine approach based on engagement, feedback, and outcomes. Assess channel performance and identify opportunities to improve reach, engagement, and clarity

  • Provide guidance to junior team members and external partners, as applicable.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in communication, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, Human Resources, or related fields.

  • 5-8+ years of experience in internal communications, corporate communications, or executive communications.

  • Exceptional written, editorial, proofreading and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information in a persuasive and easy to understand manner

  • Demonstrated experience supporting senior leaders with high-visibility communications.

  • Experience managing multiple communication channels and formats, including email, intranet content, presentations, and live meetings.

  • Strong project management skills and the ability to prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.

  • Proven ability to work well in a fast-paced, high-volume environment, managing competing priorities while maintaining a professional demeanor

  • Strong team player who can work collaboratively with colleagues to achieve department and firm goals

  • Superior client service skills and ability to form effective working relationships with stakeholders and colleagues at all levels

  • Self-starter who is deadline driven, with an excellent work ethic and a positive, proactive style

  • Sound judgment and discretion when handling confidential or sensitive information.

  • Demonstrated reliability and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a hybrid (remote and in-office) team environment.  The Firm operates on a hybrid work schedule requiring in-office presence Tuesday through Thursday, with optional remote work permitted on Mondays and Fridays. All employees must remain available for onsite work up to five days per week as business needs dictate. This schedule is subject to change; flexibility is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting organizational change or transformation initiatives.

  • Background working in a large, complex, or multi-office organization.

  • Familiarity with internal communications platforms and content management tools.

  • Experience partnering closely with HR or People teams on culture, engagement, or policy communications.

The base annual pay range for this role is between $100,000–$160,000. The base pay to be offered will vary and depend on skills and qualifications, experience and location.  A full range of medical, financial and/or other benefits dependent on the position will also be offered.
