Job Summary

The Manager of Field Training is a strategic and field-integrated leadership role responsible for driving the development, execution, and continuous improvement of sales training initiatives across the organization. This role combines ownership of the overall new representative training strategy with direct leadership and development of field-based training teams to ensure consistent execution, coaching effectiveness, and measurable impact in the field. This individual partners closely with sales leadership, marketing, and cross-functional business units to assess training needs, identify performance gaps, and deliver targeted training solutions that enhance clinical, product, and commercial competency. The Manager ensures alignment between corporate training programs and field execution, translating strategy into actionable coaching, development, and performance improvement across all levels of the sales organization.

Essential Functions

  • Lead a team that delivers all aspects of new representative training and onboarding
  • Lead and develop a field-based training resources to ensure consistent execution of coaching and training strategies
  • Drive accountability through structured field engagement, coaching reinforcement, and performance follow-up
  • Conduct bi-yearly certification of trainers themselves and report back to Director of Sales Training results and actions needed
  • FSTS & Inside Training quality metrics to be tracked by participants & managers surveys – reports quarterly to Director of Sales Training with action needed
  • Giving direction at ASM and FSM to identify and scale best practices across regions and teams, along with quarterly examples for the field
  • Responsible for coaching and directing trainers to maximize company goals and profits
  • Align field coaching activities with POA directives and business priorities
  • Develop and implement comprehensive sales training strategy aligned with business objectives
  • Design and deliver training programs covering product, clinical, and selling skills
  • Identify training needs through performance analysis and field insights
  • Lead creation and refinement of curriculum, tools, and learning materials
  • Establish coaching frameworks to improve field productivity
  • Develop territory managers, trainers, and leaders through coaching
  • Lead the evaluation of training effectiveness by analyzing performance metrics, learner feedback, and business outcomes to drive continuous improvement.
  • Influence and align cross-functional stakeholders across Sales, Marketing, and Operations to ensure learning initiatives support strategic business objectives.
  • Ensure consistent messaging and content across teams
  • Oversee training program logistics including onboarding
  • Establish metrics to evaluate ROI and effectiveness
  • Maintain strong field presence through visits and coaching

  • Fiscal Accountability: reports the training budget and assumes direct responsibility for tying education initiatives to regional revenue growth.
  • Operational Ownership: Holds ultimate accountability for training execution, field training performance metrics, and strict compliance with CMS standards.
  • Governance & Influence: Along with the Director of Sales Training, serves as the final authority on cross-functional training strategies, aligning senior executives and driving organizational change


Required/Preferred Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • 5+ years of sales experience in life sciences or medical device required.
  • 3+ years in sales training or coaching required.
  • Prior leadership experience preferred.
  • Experience developing training programs required.

The annual salary for this position is:

$150,000.00 to $195,000.00

This position is eligible for an annual bonus in accordance with the company's bonus plan. Factors which may affect starting salary include geography, skills, education, experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
