Position Overview
The Manager of Communications & Brand manages the bikeshare system's brand, public communications, and rider-facing messaging across all channels and touchpoints. This role ensures communications are clear, consistent, accessible, and aligned with organizational goals and values. The Manager will report to the Executive Director and work cross-functionally with management and have select supervisory responsibilities.
Working closely with management, operations, and partners, this position supports organizational storytelling, rider education, messaging initiatives, and the overall public presentation of the system.
This position plays a critical role in shaping how the organization is experienced by riders, partners, stakeholders, and the broader community.
The ideal candidate understands communications as both a brand and trust-building function. They are organized, creative, proactive, and committed to delivering clear, professional, and community-centered communications that strengthen the rider experience and public perception of the organization.
Core Responsibilities
Communications & Brand Management
- Maintain consistent messaging, tone, and brand standards across all communications.
- Manage brand presentation across stations, bikes, kiosks, and rider-facing environments.
- Compose written communications for digital, print, press releases, system assets and other channels.
- Create content that engages and attracts riders throughout the Valley inclusive of website, social media content, blogs and promotional.
- Initiate and drive organizational storytelling.
- Identify communication needs and support strategic messaging efforts.
- Ensure clarity, accuracy, accessibility, and professionalism across all materials.
Design & Content Production
- Create basic in-house graphics and communication materials.
- Coordinate with external designers and partners on campaigns and special projects.
- Manage print production and organization of system presentation assets, sponsorship assets, public-facing materials and informational displays.
- Maintain photo libraries, digital assets, and communication archives.
Community Engagement
- Manage community engagement, partnerships, business to business outreach, and educational and safety initiatives.
- Supervise community engagement staff.
- Develop rider stories, testimonials, surveys, and visual storytelling assets.
Rider Experience
- Manage rider communications including instructional materials, signage, and informational graphics and content.
- Implement brand alignment across rider user-interface platforms to ensure consistency.
- Monitor rider feedback and community sentiment to inform communication strategies.
Desired Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree preferred with coursework in communications, public relations, marketing, journalism, or a related field; equivalent combinations of education and experience will also be considered.
- 5 - 7 years of experience in communications, public relations, marketing, journalism, or equivalent experience.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organization, project management, and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and timelines in a fast-paced environment
- Effective working cross-functionally across internal and external resources.
- Strong visual communication and branding sensibility.
- Collaborative, proactive, and solutions-oriented mindset.
- Experience adapting messaging for diverse audiences and communication channels.

Benefits
- Salary $80,000 - $85,000 annually. Starting base salary will depend on the applicant's experience and qualifications.
