Full Job Description
Primary Purpose

The primary responsibility of this position is to ensure that consistency is maintained across the OCR market program by promoting accuracy, meeting deadlines, and overseeing daily activities for all A&E Specialist roles. Key duties include developing and communicating critical OCR Strategy data, guiding A&E Specialists to deliver milestones, and ensuring timely permit approvals for banner launches. The A&E Manager (1) will help build, streamline, and lead a team of Architects and Engineers, conducting annual performance evaluations, identifying growth opportunities, and areas for improvement. Additional responsibilities include developing processes to improve coordination and implementation of Prototype and CAD standards across all projects, including special projects, expansions, takeovers, and remodels. The role also standardizes the redline review process, tracks progress, communicates updates, and creates corrective action plans for change orders resulting from architectural errors.

Our flexible/ hybrid work schedule includes 3 in-person days at one of our core locations and 2 remote days. Our core office locations include Salisbury, NC.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Work with A&E manager III to plan and initiate the OCR market due diligence process, manage the A&E budget tracker for vendors and cap-labor, prepare & distribute A&E PSA contracts, and help process invoices for each OCR-Market.
  • Manage the development and execution of Architectural Master agreements contracts and guidelines.
  • Direct weekly meetings with the A&E Specialist II and Manager III to confirm all assigned projects meet milestones and deadlines. Ensuring the projects tracker is current and effectively communicated.
  • Collaborate with various groups, (Strategy, New Store, Format & Planning, Maintenance, Purchasing, Construction, Sustainability, Real Estate, etc.) to ensure all changes are coordinated and approved for implementation across remodel and takeover projects.
  • Conduct team meetings with the construction team to review, approve, and implement changes stemming from construction bid notes.
  • Conduct team meetings with construction to discuss value engineering feedback from the construction group. Develop and implement new cost savings ideas, including value engineering and construction means and methods, that will result in saving time and money.
  • Manage the Architects and Engineers through the Change Order process, assuring Architectural errors are valid, properly addressed, and if required, back charged.
  • Streamline the redline review process of ARCH/MEP (Architectural/Mechanical Engineering Plans). Focusing on coordination, standardization, accuracy, change order errors, conformance to prototype standards, sustainability, building codes, and other generally accepted construction practices.
  • Work with A&E manager III to compile data and conduct annual evaluations with Architects to assess their performance, effectiveness, and opportunities for growth and improvement.
  • Work with A&E manager III to implement and manage the A&E project completion process. Tracking of final invoicing, reconciliation of vendor contracts, and ensuring all final documents are received and loaded to PMWEB from Architectural firms.

  • Knowledge of architectural designs/engineering concepts and processes; construction methods and materials; site/off site design and development; project management; environmental and legal issues related to development; supermarket/retail industry standards.
  • Must be able to read and interpret plans; specifications; building codes; and lease exhibits.
  • Must be able to develop new processes, read/interpret/write contracts, schedules and timelines.
  • Excellent Oral and/or written communication skills with the ability to synthesize / adjust messages to different levels of the organization, including Sr. Leadership.
  • Presentation skills with ability to use Power Point
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to use Excel at a min. intermediate level and analyze financial data.
  • Emotional Skills / Intelligence must have a grasp of their leadership skills, strengths, opportunities and continue to work towards a more Sr. Leadership position.
  • Decision Making, must be able to evaluate complex situations, analyze options and make sound recommendations
  • Delegation skills must be able to delegate projects and assignments to their team and monitor / course correct vs do the work.
  • Situational Leadership skills, with the ability to understand how to interact with associates based on their experience, motivation and other circumstances that might relate to an item / situation.


ME/NC/PA/SC Salary Range: $92,640 - $138,960

Actual compensation offered to a candidate may vary based on their unique qualifications and experience, internal equity, and market conditions. Final compensation decisions will be made in accordance with company policies and applicable laws.
