Full Job Description
SUMMARY:

The Manager of Administration & Vocational Services (MAVS) is responsible for the daily management of the Administration & Vocational Services Team and the coordination of vocational programs and services.

The Manager Administration & Vocational Services must possess the ability to supervise and motivate a team of direct reports to achieve and exceed their goals, and be able to delegate, set expectations, and monitor progress of all direct reports. The Manager will further assist in recruitment and selection of staff needs, oversee daily administration needs including scheduling and expenditure oversight, and ensure employees have clear goals and are aware of expectations. This role will also oversee the orientation/on-boarding of new hires and volunteers, as well as assist in the performance reviews and professional development of staff.

The Manager of Administration & Vocational Services must have the ability to adapt to new technology and the ability to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and be professional at all times. This position will anticipate and identify emerging issues, trends, and challenges that affect Vocational services and programs.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Preferred Community College Diploma, University Degree or equivalent in business administration, public administration, vocational rehabilitation, or related field with a minimum of 5 years relevant work experience and/ or supervisory experience.
  • Demonstrated administrative management with the ability to supervise.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with contract development, management and oversight.
  • Knowledge and experience of social service theories and practices with a trauma-informed lens, emerging trends in social services, determinants of health, and supportive, preventative programming.
  • Strong awareness of and appreciation for traditional Indigenous culture and the social reality that Indigenous people experience in an urban setting; knowledge of an Indigenous language(s) considered an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of services available for urban Indigenous people who are seeking employment and education services, including upgrading basic skills, pathways to employment and to furthering education.
  • Experience with volunteer and employee recruitment and engagement.
  • Knowledge of a range of human resources activities, including: recruitment, orientation, performance management, schedule management, employee relations and communications.
  • Expertise and understanding of the principals involved to provide culturally grounded trauma-informed care and wise practices within service delivery, continuum of care, and group programming.
  • Understanding of resource and fiscal management.
  • Experience in program management, supervision, operations, administration and budgeting.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • High level of administrative skills including data management and personnel management.
  • Models' appropriate communication with staff; ability to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times.
  • Excellent conflict mediation and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office including database applications.
  • Ability to work flexible hours; including evenings and weekends.
  • Current First Aid / CPR Certificate and Safe Food Handling certification is an asset.
  • Must have a valid Ontario Driver's License and reliable transportation.
  • A satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Clearance is a condition of employment.
