Summary
The Manager Nursing and Patient Care Services provides operational leadership and accountability for the delivery of safe, high-quality patient care within a defined clinical unit or service area. This role is responsible for translating organizational strategy into daily practice through effective management of staffing, clinical operations, patient experience, quality outcomes, and fiscal performance at the unit level.
The Manager Nursing and Patient Care Services directly supervises frontline staff and serves as the first-line leader responsible for building team capability, ensuring regulatory compliance, and maintaining a professional practice environment. The Manager Nursing and Patient Care Services collaborates with the Director and interdisciplinary partners to implement strategic initiatives, drive performance improvement, and sustain a culture of safety, engagement, and accountability.

Job Duties

  • Provides direct operational leadership for a defined clinical unit, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care delivery.
  • Supervises frontline staff and manages daily staffing, scheduling, and patient care operations to meet clinical and operational needs.
  • Implements organizational policies, procedures, and strategic initiatives at the unit level.
  • Monitors and improves unit performance metrics related to quality, safety, patient experience, and workforce engagement.
  • Manages unit-level budget performance and resource utilization within established financial targets.
  • Ensures compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and organizational standards.
  • Coaches and develops staff to support professional growth, competency, and retention.
  • Identifies operational issues and escalates system-level concerns to the Director as appropriate.
  • Participates in organizational and departmental initiatives to support continuous improvement and operational excellence.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
  • 3 years experience in similar or like unit. (Emergency Department)
  • BLS - Basic Life Support AHA - American Heart Association Upon Hire and
  • RN - Licensed Registered Nurse_PA - State of Pennsylvania Upon Hire or
  • RN - Licensed Registered Nurse_NJ - State of New Jersey Upon Hire


Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Nursing or related area.


Additional Qualifications

  • Specialty/leadership certification within 2 years of hire. ACLS - Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support - American Heart Association and PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support - American Heart Association as per unit requirements.
  • RN License required in state of practice.


Physical Demands
Lift and carry 25 lbs. frequent sitting/standing, frequent keyboard use, *patient care providers may be required to perform activities specific to their role including kneeling, bending, squatting and performing CPR.
