Manager, Military Sales & MarketingPosition Summary:The
Manager, Military Sales & Marketing supports the management, execution, and growth of Sterling Foods' Military business. This position helps manage customer relationships, programs, solicitations, business opportunities, forecasting, and overall program execution.
The Manager works cross-functionally with
Operations, Production Planning, Supply Chain, Quality Assurance, Product Development, Finance, Customer Service, and Logistics to ensure Military programs are successfully executed and customer requirements are consistently met.
Primary ResponsibilitiesMilitary Customer & Program Management- Serve as a primary day-to-day contact for assigned customers, programs, and business opportunities.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers, assemblers, distributors, and strategic partners.
- Participate in customer meetings, plant visits, conferences, and other customer-facing activities.
- Coordinate the resolution of customer, production, and delivery issues as needed.
Military Solicitations & Business Opportunities- Coordinate responses to customer solicitations and requests for pricing, technical information, certifications, documentation, and other required information.
- Track key solicitation, proposal, contract, and renewal activities and communicate significant requirements and deadlines to the Military Management Team.
- Support Product Demonstration Model (PDM) submissions, customer evaluations, product approvals, and other product-development activities.
Sales, Forecasting & Business Analysis- Develop sales forecasts, pricing strategies, business projections, and program plans in coordination with the Military Management Team.
- Monitor sales, customer demand, contract activity, ordering patterns, and emerging business opportunities.
- Maintain sales forecasts, opportunity pipelines, and other business-planning information.
- Identify and communicate significant business risks, changes, and opportunities.
- Assist with the preparation of sales and program information for executive management.
Program Execution & Cross-Functional Coordination- Coordinate with internal departments to support the successful execution of Military programs.
- Monitor production, material, quality, inventory, and delivery issues that could affect customer or contractual requirements.
- Support the timely resolution and communication of issues affecting customers.
- Help ensure applicable contractual, specification, customer, and program requirements are understood and communicated throughout the organization.
- Maintain an organized database of customer communications and contractual documentation, including rework requests, contract modifications, amendments, engineering support cases, approvals, and other relevant program records.
Military Growth & Business Development- Support the Military Management Team in identifying and developing new products, programs, customers, and business opportunities.
- Monitor procurement activity, military ration initiatives, product-development programs, and relevant industry trends.
- Participate in customer meetings, conferences, customer visits, and other business-development activities.
- Assist in developing customer presentations, capability materials, product information, and other Military sales and marketing materials.
Other Duties- Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Supply Chain, Military Contracting, or a related field preferred.
- Relevant experience in sales, account management, Military contracting, manufacturing, food production, customer service, or a related field.
- Experience supporting U.S. Military or Department of Defense business preferred.
- General knowledge of Military solicitations, contracts, proposals, and procurement processes desirable.
- Strong communication, organizational, analytical, and customer relationship skills.
- Ability to manage multiple programs, priorities, and deadlines while maintaining accuracy and follow-through.
- Ability to work effectively across multiple departments and levels of the organization.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, ERP systems, and related business applications.
- Demonstrated professionalism, integrity, accountability, sound judgment, and sense of urgency.
- Ability to travel as required.
- Ability to perform other duties as assigned.
Position ScopeThe
Military Sales & Marketing Manager is an integral member of Sterling Foods' Military Management Team and is expected to develop a comprehensive understanding of the company's Military business channel.
The position will assume increasing responsibility for assigned customers, programs, contracts, proposals, and business-development initiatives while contributing to the company's overall Military growth objectives and long-term success.
