Position Summary
In accordance with the vision, mission, values, and strategic priorities of Northern Health, the Manager, Medical Imaging Operations provides accountable site-based operational leadership for Medical Imaging services at the University Hospital of Northern British Columbia (UHNBC). The role is responsible for the planning, coordination, day-to-day delivery, performance monitoring, and continuous improvement of Medical Imaging services, ensuring services are safe, timely, high-quality, patient-centered, and aligned with organizational priorities, accreditation standards, and regulatory requirements. The Manager is accountable for implementing regional Medical Imaging operational strategies, policies, and standards at UHNBC and may be assigned to support other regional Northern Health sites to maintain service continuity, provide temporary operational leadership coverage, or backfill another Medical Imaging manager, as required. The role oversees workforce coordination, resource utilization, quality and safety activities, operational issue resolution, student placement support, patient and family advocacy, complaint review processes, and broader program planning and evaluation activities. The Manager contributes to UHNBC's teaching hospital role by supporting learning environments that bring together research, teaching, and practice, while ensuring consistent application of professional practice and operational standards. System-level risks, capacity pressures, and emerging service challenges are escalated to the Director, Medical Imaging Operations, as appropriate. Working in close collaboration with radiologists, modality leads, clinical leaders, Health Service Administrators, site leadership teams, and interdisciplinary partners, the Manager supports integrated service delivery, service continuity, and continuous improvement within Medical Imaging operations.

Starting salary will be approximately from $132,169 to $163,073 and will be based on education, training, experience, reporting structure and salaries of similar positions.

Qualfications
• Degree, diploma, or equivalent recognized qualification in Medical Imaging, Health Sciences, Health Administration, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• Current registration, certification, or eligibility for registration/certification with a recognized regulatory or professional body relevant to Medical Imaging, as applicable.
• Minimum of five (5) years of recent experience in Medical Imaging or a related healthcare environment, including progressive supervisory or operational leadership experience, typically three (3) years or more.
• Demonstrated experience supporting site-based operations, including service delivery, staffing coordination, quality and patient safety activities, and implementation of organizational policies and standards.
• Experience working in a tertiary care, teaching hospital, multi-modality Medical Imaging, and/or complex healthcare environment is an asset.
• Valid BC Driver's License and access to a personal vehicle may be required.

Skills and Abilities:
• Demonstrated ability to manage day-to-day Medical Imaging operations within a complex, unionized healthcare environment.
• Knowledge of accreditation, regulatory, safety, and professional practice requirements relevant to Medical Imaging services.
• Knowledge of teaching hospital responsibilities, student placement coordination, patient- and family-centered care principles, complaint review processes, evaluative research, program planning, and service evaluation within a complex healthcare environment.
• Strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities in a high-volume tertiary care environment.
• Demonstrated ability to support staff development, coaching, performance management, and respectful workplace practices.
• Working knowledge of financial and operational processes, including budget monitoring and variance management within delegated authority.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work effectively with radiologists, modality leads, clinical leaders, operational partners, and regional leadership.
• Proficiency with clinical and administrative information systems and the use of data to support operational decision-making.
• Ability to work effectively in environments characterized by change, complexity, and ambiguity.
