Texas A&M's College of Arts and Sciences is seeking a Manager for Media Relations and Editorial Services to lead and coordinate the college's editorial content strategy and media relations efforts. This position is responsible for developing and executing comprehensive editorial and media outreach plans that support the college's mission, strategic priorities, and communications objectives. Key responsibilities include managing the editorial calendar, overseeing content development and distribution, coordinating media outreach initiatives, and implementing content strategies that enhance the college's marketing and communications efforts. This position reports directly to the Director of Marketing & Communications.

Opportunities to Contribute
  • Develops and executes the College's editorial strategy, maintains the editorial content calendar, monitors media and audience trends, and partners with stakeholders to ensure content aligns with brand standards, organizational priorities, and the college's strategic plan.
  • Oversees the creation, review, editing, and distribution of written content and presentations across web, email, social media, and other strategic channels, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and alignment with institutional goals.
  • Collaborates with university editorial, media, and communications teams to elevate, amplify, and coordinate college content initiatives.
  • Develops and executes media relations strategies in partnership with leadership, proactively identifying and pitching stories and earned media opportunities to key audiences.
  • Serves as the primary media contact and liaison, managing media inquiries and interview requests and preparing college stakeholders for media engagement opportunities.
  • Utilizes media monitoring, distribution, and analytics tools to track media coverage, engagement, performance, and impact, and provides data-driven insights and reporting to leadership.
  • Continuously evaluates and improves editorial, media relations, and content distribution strategies and workflows to expand reach and strengthen visibility across local, state, and national audiences.
  • Supervises editorial and media relations staff, student workers, interns, and decentralized content contributors by providing leadership, coaching, project oversight, and guidance to ensure alignment with editorial standards and priorities.


Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in communications or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Five years of related experience in writing and editing, public relations or a similar field.


A well-qualified candidate for this position will also possess:
  • Experience in higher education.
  • Demonstrates strong project management proficiency.
  • Knowledge and familiarity with AP Style.
  • Leadership and supervisory skills in marketing and/or communication.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
  • Ability to present information clearly and concisely.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and work in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.


Salary: $88,000-$90,000 yearly

Schedule: Ability to work nights and weekends as needed.
