Role Purpose

As Mechanical Engineer you will shape the HVAC infrastructure that keeps LA28 venues comfortable, safe, and ready for the Olympic and Paralympic Games. Within Venue Infrastructure, you will develop the heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning strategy that supports Games operations across all venues, and lead the design process that delivers it to schedule.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop the HVAC infrastructure strategy that supports Games operations across all venues.


  • Lead the HVAC design process to meet schedule milestones.


  • Coordinate internal and external stakeholders to develop cost-effective, Games-time-ready solutions.


  • Oversee external resources to deliver on workstream responsibilities.


  • Support cross-functional initiatives, including Permitting, Risk Management, Procurement, and Health and Safety.


Required Competencies

  • An accredited Bachelor's degree in Engineering.


  • Experience developing HVAC or mechanical infrastructure through design and delivery.


  • Ability to lead a design process to schedule milestones and oversee external resources, coordinating stakeholders toward cost-effective solutions.


Valued Experience

  • Experience developing design documentation such as ductwork layouts, load calculations, equipment selection, specifications, and controls architecture.


  • Knowledge of the California Building Code, and of engineering tools such as Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD, Forma, Bluebeam, and Procore.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

  • Available to work onsite in our Downtown Los Angeles-based office, with venue site visits as needed.


  • Venue site visits require movement around varying environmental conditions in interior and exterior spaces.


  • The LA28 office is an open floorplan environment; employees must be able to work efficiently in an open cubicle setting.


  • Hours of work may vary, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, especially during peak event periods.


  • Perform other duties as required; the role will evolve and may include operational responsibilities during the Games.


Compensation

The annual base salary range for this position is $120,000 - $155,000. The pay scale provided is the range that LA28 reasonably expects to pay as starting base compensation for this role. All LA28 compensation remains subject to final determination based on individual candidate qualifications, experience, or other reasonable criteria consistent with LA28's operational business needs and applicable law.
