Job DescriptionOverviewReporting to the Director of Manufacturing and Materials Management, the Manager, Mechanical & Electrical Assembly Operations is responsible for leading Mechanical Assembly, Electrical Assembly, Testing and Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) Laboratory activities. The manager is accountable for the safe, efficient and cost-effective execution of manufacturing operations while ensuring delivery, quality, throughput, and overhead cost objectives are achieved. The position oversees approximately 20 direct reports and works closely with Production Control to execute production schedules and customer commitments.
Your role - Lead daily operations for Mechanical Assembly, Electrical Assembly, Testing, and I&C Lab activities, ensuring safe, efficient, and on-time execution of production schedules.
- Monitor and improve operational performance through KPI tracking, including throughput, schedule attainment, labor utilization, quality, and on-time delivery.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity, efficiency, waste reduction, and manufacturing capacity enhancement.
- Provide leadership, coaching, and performance management for a team of approximately 20 employees, fostering a collaborative and safety-focused culture.
- Develop workforce capabilities through training, mentoring, succession planning, talent development, recruitment, and performance reviews.
- Manage departmental resources, budgets, and overhead costs while leveraging JobBoss ERP to optimize work orders, labor performance, and production objectives in collaboration with Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and Production Control teams.
About you- Degree, diploma, or equivalent experience in Manufacturing, Engineering, Operations Management or a related discipline.
- 7+ years of progressive manufacturing experience, including leadership responsibility in mechanical and/or electrical assembly environments.
- Minimum 3 years of people management experience leading production teams.
- Experience working in a high-mix, low-to-medium volume manufacturing environment.
- Experience with ERP systems, preferably JobBoss.
- Proven experience in training, workforce development and succession planning.
- Demonstrated ability to improve throughput, quality, delivery performance and cost management.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies is considered an asset.
- Strong leadership, coaching and employee development skills.
- Strong communication, problem-solving and cross-functional collaboration skills.
