Job Description:

We are seeking a Manager of Materials Process Engineering to lead a team of experienced professionals in designing, developing, and modifying critical processes for the manufacture and utilization of materials in aerospace and defense applications. This role will drive significant improvements in materials processes, systems, and solutions while establishing operational plans that directly contribute to our organization's mission success. You will have the opportunity to influence key decisions across the function, lead innovation in materials characterization and process development, and mentor a team of talented engineers working on cutting-edge hardware and energetics formulations.

Essential Functions:

  • Ability to obtain a US Secret Security Clearance.
  • Lead and direct a team of experienced materials process engineers and lower-level supervisors in the design, development, and modification of manufacturing processes and methods for various materials applications
  • Oversee the preparation, execution, and maintenance of materials and process specifications, including Process Materials and Parts Plan (PMPP), corrosion control plans, and contamination control plans
  • Participate in and guide design processes including trade studies, supplier selection, concurrent design and development, materials characterization, data analysis, and drawing review
  • Analyze materials and material components to establish operating data, conduct experimental and laboratory tests, and evaluate results to ensure specifications and reliability requirements are met
  • Establish short-term operational plans (less than 1 year) with measurable contributions toward functional and business area results
  • Communicate with internal and external stakeholders including customers, vendors, and senior leadership to influence changes to policies, practices, and approaches
  • Conduct briefings with senior leaders on matters of importance to the function or business area
  • Exercise hiring, firing, promotion, and compensation authority for direct reports in accordance with management review and approval processes


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical discipline and minimum 9 years of related experience in chemistry and/or materials process engineering. Graduate Degree in relevant technical discipline and minimum 7 years of related experience in chemistry and/or materials process engineering. In lieu of a degree, minimum 13 years of related experience in materials process engineering.

  • Comprehensive knowledge and skills within materials process engineering discipline
  • Experience with solid rocket propellants and energetics formulation and processing

  • Knowledge of supply chain production support and manufacturing operations
