Full Job Description
Primary Purpose of Position

The Manager, Marketing is accountable for maximizing the value of Sinopec Canada's natural gas, crude oil, condensate, natural gas liquids (NGLs), and sulphur production portfolio through the development and execution of commercial marketing, transportation, and market access strategies.

The role provides leadership for commodity marketing activities, commercial negotiations, portfolio optimization, and market development initiatives to ensure secure market access, maximize corporate netbacks, and support long-term business growth.

Role Responsibilities

Commercial Strategy & Portfolio Optimization
  • Develop and execute short- and long-term commodity marketing, transportation, and market access strategies aligned with corporate objectives.
  • Maximize realized commodity value through pricing, transportation, storage, blending, market access, and contract optimization strategies.
  • Monitor market fundamentals, pricing trends, transportation constraints, and competitive market developments.

Commodity Marketing Leadership
  • Lead the commercialization of Sinopec Canada's production portfolio.
  • Negotiate and manage commodity sales agreements, transportation agreements, and other commercial arrangements.
  • Oversee commodity nominations, scheduling, transportation commitments, and sales execution.
  • Evaluate new market opportunities, transportation alternatives, and commercial arrangements.

Commercial Analysis & Market Intelligence
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of Western Canadian and North American energy markets.
  • Identify and evaluate opportunities to improve commercial performance, market access, and portfolio value through market intelligence and industry benchmarking.
  • Provide executive leadership with market outlooks, strategic recommendations, and commercial insights.
  • Lead economic evaluations, scenario analysis, and business case development for commercial initiatives.
  • Evaluate market opportunities associated with LNG, market diversification, transportation solutions, and infrastructure developments.

Stakeholder & Relationship Management
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, marketers, midstream companies, transportation providers, joint venture partners, and other industry stakeholders.
  • Represent the company in commercial discussions and negotiations.

Leadership & Team Development
  • Lead, mentor, and develop marketing personnel while establishing priorities and providing guidance across the marketing function.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, commercial excellence, and continuous improvement.


Governance & Risk Management
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, commercial controls, and approval authorities.
  • Manage commercial risks associated with commodity sales and transportation arrangements.
  • Support internal governance, audit requests, and reporting requirements.


Position Knowledge and Skills

  • Strong understanding of natural gas marketing, gas control, transportation, and market access, as well as familiarity with crude oil, condensate, NGL, and sulphur marketing.
  • Strong working knowledge of NGTL/NOVA, TC Energy and Alliance systems, and crude oil/NGL transportation infrastructure.
  • Demonstrated experience in:
    • Commodity marketing, transportation, and market access across natural gas, crude oil, condensate, NGLs, and sulphur markets.
    • Commercial negotiations, contract structuring, and commodity sales agreements.
    • Market fundamentals, pricing dynamics, transportation economics, and netback optimization.
    • Commercial evaluations, economic analysis, and business case development.
    • Midstream, transportation, and market-access arrangements supporting commodity commercialization.
    • Western Canadian and North American energy markets, including natural gas marketing and transportation.
  • Advanced analytical, commercial, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify opportunities, evaluate alternatives, and make sound business recommendations.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence outcomes and build effective working relationships across technical, operational, commercial, and executive groups.
  • Demonstrated leadership capability, including developing people, managing priorities, and leading cross-functional initiatives.


Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Engineering, Commerce, or a related discipline.
  • 10-15 years of progressive experience in oil and gas marketing, commodity marketing, commercial operations, trading, transportation, or related commercial roles.
  • Demonstrated experience marketing natural gas and a strong understanding of Western Canadian natural gas markets.
  • Experience developing and executing commodity marketing, transportation, and market access strategies.
  • Experience negotiating commodity sales contracts, transportation agreements, and commercial arrangements.
  • Previous leadership experience, including mentoring, coaching, or managing employees.
  • Advanced Excel skills and strong commercial and analytical capabilities.
  • Experience leading commercial evaluations, economic analyses, and business case development.
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
