Full Job Description
The Manager, Logistics will support regional implementation of global initiatives by resourcing and networking with other departments to support positive outcomes in both the financial and operational arenas. You will ensure effective, efficient, and compliant shipping execution is followed on all shipments (inbound/outbound) for the region along with the coordination of other departments like customer service, sales, distribution, and trade compliance. In addition, this individual will manage and oversee the vendor network for all modes of transportation to align, leverage, and deploy logistics strategies improving the overall serviceability, scale, and pricing for New Era Cap.

Our team oversees four functional groups within New Era: Logistics, Distribution, Logistics Integration, and Trade Compliance. We are responsible for managing all product movement from the time it leaves the factory until the time it is delivered to the end customer

Responsibilities

  • Manage the relationships and act as the primary point for communication between all of New Era's logistic partners for NA (LTL, FTL, Intermodal, Air and Ocean, and the company New Era Cap)
  • Anticipate, analyze, and troubleshoot problems with inbound/outbound deliveries and devises cost-effective and legal solutions; and acts to implement same
  • Ensure optimum delivery reliability to the customer by developing efficient and effective flow processes and identifying process improvement and cost reduction strategies that are in line with business objectives
  • Participate in strategic planning by identifying short- and long-term strategies for transportation and cost savings
  • Assist in the lane level sourcing strategy with all providers and the negotiation of truckload rates with common carriers to mitigate inflation and implement cost saving projects
  • Ensure vendor execution against transportation requirements, meeting requirements of customers
  • Create and manage KPIs for logistic providers with a keen focus on budget adherence and areas of improvement
  • Manage freight billing process and assure that freight invoices match contracted rates and are paid accurately and timely
  • Ensure that all shipping complaints and feedback are handled quickly and to the satisfaction of the customer. Analyze complaints on regular basis for trends and reoccurrence. Discuss findings and recommendations with leadership to implement change
  • Ensure SAP routing are set up/maintained within the distribution network and SAP
  • Manage the logistics team (Logistics Coordinators) to execute logistics strategy and provide training, and development within the group
  • Counsel, consult, communicate, instruct, and monitor direct-reporting employees in acceptable practices and department and Company policies and procedures
  • Support Hot Market activities, related to major sporting events, that require quick turn around and urgent resolutions as needed
  • Keeps all sensitive matters confidential
  • Other duties as assigned


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel required
  • Experience with the use of TMS and WMS systems
  • Excellent ability to communicate, follow-up, and engage with outside partners to ensure proper procedures
  • Demonstration to execute in timely manner in a fast-paced environment
  • Exercise sound independent judgment
  • Knowledge of multimodal solutions
  • Strong follow-up with attention to detail
  • Working knowledge of SAP
  • APICs certification a plus


Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics or similar field preferred; additional experience in lieu of degree may be considered
  • Five (5) to Seven (7) years progressive experience in transportation, logistics or supply chain management, at least 3 years of people management experience
  • Customer Service or Operations management experience a plus


Travel Requirement

  • The location for this position is 100% on-site in Buffalo, NY
  • 10% to 15%; domestic and/or global


The salary range for this posted position is $75,000 - $95,000 (plus bonus & benefits) and pertains to candidates located in Western New York. Actual compensation is determined by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, education, essential job duties and requirements, and necessary experience.
