Job Description

In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health), patient and staff safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.

Reporting to the Director, Regional Facilities Management, the Manager is responsible for all aspects of planning, organization and management of leased facility maintenance for all Island Health leased facilities. The Manager is responsible for facility maintenance, long-range capital planning, capital equipment requests, and installation and construction. Leads various island-wide projects on specific operational, maintenance, or construction issues.

Travel is a requirement of this position. Transportation arrangements must meet the operational requirements of the Vancouver Island Health Authority in accordance with the service assignment and may require the use of a personal vehicle.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education, Training And Experience

A level of education, training and experience equivalent to a Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Bachelors Degree in Commerce, Applied Science or Technology, preferably in a mechanical, plant engineering, or related field, with related professional designation. Minimum of seven years practical experience in plant operations/ maintenance/capital construction including comprehensive healthcare operations and maintenance experience and supervisory/management level. Courses in Facilities Management, Real Estate, Financial Management, and Project Management.

  • Demonstrated commitment to client focused services and teamwork.
  • Ability to integrate administrative, professional and operational aspects of the department throughout Island Health in an effective and efficient manner.
  • Ability to develop and nurture an environment where quality improvement principles are embraced and used on a continuous basis.
  • Demonstrated organizational, financial, project management, client service, planning and coordination skills.

Additional information for applicants

This temp position may end upon the return of incumbent.The salary range for this position is $90,770 (min) to $113,462 (midpoint) to $130,481(max) per annum (based on 1 FTE). Salary placement is between min and midpoint, based on experience, qualifications, and internal equity.
