Job Description

What you'll do

  • Works with product management, business analysts, developers, testers and architectural teams to define strategy and requirements
  • Develops and drives high-level strategic initiatives and secures commitment from external and internal teams for new initiatives
  • Drives consensus on technical approach, sets timelines, and leads cross-functional application teams from design through delivery
  • Applies software engineering best industry practices to web applications and services
  • Provides technical guidance, direction, and decisions to team developing custom and off-the-shelf web applications and services
  • Works with Application/Enterprise Architects to establish development and deployment standards, and ensures adherence to technology platform decisions
  • Lead and develop high-performing engineering teams, including hiring, mentoring, performance management, staffing strategy, and career development.
  • Establish effective communication channels across engineering squads, stakeholders, and leadership to ensure transparency, alignment, and successful execution.
  • Ensure operational excellence by overseeing production support, incident management, issue resolution, and delivery commitments, including occasional off-hours support when required.

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Technology, Information Systems (CIS/MIS), Engineering or related technical discipline, or equivalent experience/training
  • 8 years of Java Development Environment (JDE) experience
  • 2 years Application Programming Interface (ADI) framework / REST development
  • 2 years in web services (mid-range) development

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Technology, Information Systems (CIS/MIS), Engineering or related technical discipline, or equivalent experience/training
  • 3 years technical leadership of IT personnel

Skills, Licenses & Certifications
  • Proven track record leading engineering initiatives that deliver measurable business value while managing multiple priorities and workstreams.
  • Strong technical leadership experience in Agile delivery environments and executive-level communication.
  • Experience leading engineering teams with varying skill levels through complex, high-pressure operational situations.
  • Drives technology standards, platform resiliency, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Advocates for engineering excellence through automation, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and platform engineering practices.
  • Strong understanding of cloud computing principles and experience building and operating enterprise-grade cloud platforms.
  • Hands-on experience with containers, Kubernetes, and container orchestration technologies.
  • Familiarity with Azure and AWS cloud services, architectures, and cloud-native design principles.
  • Deep understanding of DevOps practices, CI/CD, reliability engineering, and operating systems with 99.99% availability requirements.
  • Technical proficiency with Terraform, Python, Go, and TypeScript for infrastructure automation and platform development.
