Full Job Description
The IT PMO Manager provides leadership for program and project management practitioners across CenterWell Home and Primary Care Organization IT teams, ensuring consistent execution of delivery standards, program and project discipline, and delivery health management. This role leads and develops program managers and project managers, strengthens delivery capabilities, and partners with portfolio, finance, and business leaders to ensure approved initiatives are executed effectively, dependencies are actively managed, and outcomes are achieved.
This role is accountable for program and project delivery excellence and team capability, while partnering with (but not owning) portfolio governance and demand decision making.

Key Responsibilities

PMO Leadership & Capability Development

  • Lead, coach, and manage a team of program managers and project managers.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, transparency, trust, and continuous improvement.
  • Establish clear performance expectations, career paths, and skill development plans for PM practitioners.
  • Provide hands‑on coaching in stakeholder management, executive communication, and delivery leadership.
  • Ensuring adherence to standard PMO practices, training, and delivery tools.

Program & Project Delivery Management

  • Ensure consistent application of program and project management methodologies, standards, and templates.
  • Provide oversight of end‑to‑end program and project execution, including schedules, milestones, dependencies, and delivery risks.
  • Manage cross‑project and cross‑program dependencies to ensure coordinated delivery of outcomes.
  • Act as the primary escalation point for delivery risks, blockers, and complex interdependencies.
  • Intervene early to stabilize at‑risk programs or projects and drive corrective action.
  • Ensure initiatives meet readiness criteria and delivery expectations throughout the lifecycle.

Resource & Capacity Manager

  • Lead PMO resource planning and capacity management for programs and projects.
  • Partner with the Associate Director, portfolio leaders, and functional managers to align resources with approved initiatives.
  • Assign practitioners based on capability, workload, and development needs.
  • Identify and escalate resource constraints that may impact delivery commitments.
  • Ensures people are matched to work that fit their skills and growth plans.

Program Management

  • Partner with finance and portfolio managers to manage program and project budgets, forecasts, and resource allocation.
  • Deliver executive-level reporting on program health, status, KPIs, and strategic alignment.
  • Facilitate program governance meetings, steering committees, and executive reviews.

Stakeholder & Cross‑Functional Partnership

  • Build strong working relationships with business leaders, technology leaders, and delivery partners.
  • Partner closely with portfolio management, finance, and governance teams to support execution of approved programs and projects.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor on delivery health, delivery risks, and execution best practices.
  • Ensure communication strategies are timely, accurate, and tailored to stakeholder needs.

Reporting & Delivery Transparency

  • Ensure the accuracy, consistency, and timeliness of program and project status reporting.
  • Provide executive‑level visibility into delivery performance, milestones, risks, and key dependencies.
  • Highlight trends, systemic risks, and improvement opportunities across programs and projects.

Required Qualifications

  • 8 + years of progressive program and project management experience leading large-scale complex technical initiatives.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years experience leading teams of program managers and/or project managers.
  • Strong expertise in program and project management methodologies (Waterfall, Agile, Hybrid).
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and conflict‑resolution skills.
  • Strong written communication and documentation capabilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • PMP, PgMP, PMI-ACP, SAFe, or comparable certifications.
  • Experience in enterprise-level IT environments.
  • Knowledge of project management tools (ServiceNow, Jira, ADO, Office Suite of Products, etc…)
  • Experience in highly regulated industries (healthcare, finance, government).

Additional Information

This position follows a Hybrid work style (2-3 days a week in office). The candidate must live close to one of our designated IT locations: Louisville, KY; Tampa, FL; Fort Lauderdale, FL; Dallas/Frisco, TX; Boston, MA; Washington, D.C: Atlanta, GA, Nashville, TN, Chicago, IL, or Charlotte, NC.

Pay Range

The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.


 

$115,200 - $158,400 per year


 

This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan. This incentive opportunity is based upon company and/or individual performance.
