Manager, Information Technology Operations

Your Opportunity

Reporting to the Director, Information Technology, the Manager, Information Technology Operations is a dynamic leadership role responsible for ensuring the effective delivery of technology services across the Huron campus. This position oversees IT operations, helpdesk services, technology infrastructure, cybersecurity initiatives, and technology-related projects while managing a team of IT professionals and student interns.

The successful candidate will help align daily IT operations with Huron's strategic objectives, support continuous improvement initiatives, collaborate with internal staff and faculty and external partners, and contribute to the development and implementation of technology strategies that improve department efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and support a team of IT Coordinators and student interns that fosters professional development, mentorship, and service excellence.
  • Manage IT helpdesk operations, service levels, ticket volumes, and escalated technical support issues.
  • Oversee the lifecycle management of end-user technology, classroom technology, servers, and telecommunications systems.
  • Maintain and enhance the organization's computing environment, ensuring reliable, secure, and efficient operations.
  • Develop and implement procedures for hardware, software, operating systems, and technology inventory management.
  • Collaborate with Western Technology Services and external vendors to support infrastructure, server environments, backups, and network services.
  • Provide project management support to a variety of technology projects from planning through execution, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Identify and mitigate security vulnerabilities and advise leadership on emerging cybersecurity risks and best practices.
  • Research industry trends and emerging technologies and recommend solutions that improve operational effectiveness and support Huron's strategic priorities.


Qualifications:
  • Post-secondary education in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. A specialization in IT Service Management and/or IT Governance is preferred.
  • Minimum five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in information technology, including leadership and service management experience.
  • Experience supporting both PC and Mac computing environments.
  • Expertise in desktop support technologies and management tools, including Active Directory, SCCM, Group Policy, MDT, and PDQ.
  • Strong knowledge of networking technologies, server administration, hardware infrastructure, and operating systems.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity principles, threat mitigation strategies, incident response processes, and security best practices.
  • Strong technical troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills in classroom and audio-visual technologies.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to build collaborative relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.

Compensation:

This is a full-time, permanent position. Salary commensurate with experience: $80,000 - $95,000
