Job Summary:
Responsible for oversight of business operations and clinical patient care management of the diagnostic imaging services. Responsibility includes oversight of the section supervisors along with oversight of best practices within the department to create and implement efficient use of scheduling, equipment management and radiology technician's productivity through the application of sound technical and financial practices. Maintain and improve established benchmarking and financial budgeting expectations at all locations by ensuring optimum efficiencies are in place and developed as the patient volume and patient care services dictate.

Education & Experience

Education and Experience Required:

Four (4) years' experience in radiologic technology that includes one (1) year leadership experience

Certifications, Licenses, or Registrations Required:

Mississippi Medical Radiation Technologist (MRT) license and one of the below accepted credentials. American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) required post-hire within 90 days.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Direct knowledge and experience with radiology, and/or acute care procedures. Sound oral/written communication and interpersonal skills. Must be able to work in a highly active and stressful environment. Must have the ability to train and motivate employees to ensure that staff retention and professional growth is supported. Must be able to build strong relationships with colleagues, UMMC personnel/leadership and equipment vendors. Must have a sound functioning ability to work with all office suite programs along with PACS/RIS and EPIC systems. Sound experience with understanding financials and benchmarking for their respective areas.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Oversight and responsibility for all operational duties to maintain and grow the diagnostic radiology business at all service locations.
  • Responsible for coordination of operational best practices to coincide with the practices and responsibilities of the attending physicians and surgeons.
  • Oversight and responsibility of the management practices of inventory control to optimize efficiency and reduce expenses by improving, developing, implementing, and monitoring best practices.
  • Oversight for development and implementation of all hospital policies along with State, Federal, and Joint Commission regulations/standards are within compliance at all times.
  • Develops and maintains an optimal functioning/employee teamwork atmosphere for all department staff members to ensure a sound, safe, and comfortable work environment. This includes employee professional development.
  • Dutiful in meeting all UMMC related leadership responsibilities and activities including leadership development of supervisory staff members.
  • Collaborates with all hospital departments to ensure optimal continuum of care is provided for all patients at all locations.
  • Oversight and responsibility for quality and performance improvement activities for patient care areas with a high focus on patient safety.
  • Liaison for the main operating rooms and the hospital imaging needs and to ensure that surgical cases are supported.
  • Oversight responsibility for subordinates and those staff members at all service delivery locations
