Key job responsibilities
- Lead and grow a high-performing engineering team through effective hiring, mentoring, performance management, and skills development while fostering an inclusive culture of engineering excellence and innovation
- Drive the architecture, design, implementation, and delivery of scalable software systems that power the primary customer experience for Woot.com, from marketing integrations to checkout flows
- Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to define your team's vision, roadmap, and strategic priorities by working backwards from customer needs and balancing tactical execution with long-term goals
- Establish team structures, processes, and mechanisms that enable rapid delivery while maintaining the highest standards for code quality, system health, security, and operational excellence
- Jump into technical discussions and code when necessary, leveraging your strong software engineering background and AI proficiency to unblock your team and drive critical decisions
A day in the life
You'll start with daily standups where you connect with your team on progress and blockers, then shift to strategic planning sessions where you define roadmaps and allocate resources. Mid-day might find you in the code reviewing pull requests or pair programming to solve a particularly thorny problem. You'll have transparent conversations about performance and growth with team members, collaborate with product and operations partners on resourcing decisions, and engage directly with customers in the Woot forums to understand their needs firsthand.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of engineering team management experience
- 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience
- 3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience
- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
- Experience partnering with product or program management teams
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
- Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers
The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
