PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
The Project HSE Manager is essential in driving Worley's commitment to delivering sustainable and safe projects. This role ensures the seamless implementation and management of Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) programs across various projects. By fostering a safety-first culture and embedding sustainable practices, the Project HSE Manager supports Worley's broader ambition of transitioning to sustainable energy sources while maintaining excellence in delivering the energy, chemicals, and resources needed by society today.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead and collaborate with Project Managers, Construction Managers, and Project Management teams to implement effective HSE programs aligned with Worley's sustainability and business goals.
- Provide expert guidance on HSE issues, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements and corporate policies.
- Drive the development of a safety-focused work environment by creating and maintaining HSE programs that align with Worley's strategic objectives.
- Manage complex projects by applying advanced HSE expertise, ensuring the elimination of workplace hazards and fostering a proactive safety culture.
- Deliver clear and timely communication with key stakeholders, including direct reporting to the Project or Construction Manager on all HSE program aspects.
- Oversee and manage HSE aspects for smaller projects or sections of larger projects, ensuring compliance with Worley's policies and objectives.
- Make autonomous, informed decisions to prioritize tasks and address complex situations using comprehensive knowledge of HSE practices and industry standards.
- Engage with cross-functional teams to disseminate best practices and contribute to the organization's overall HSE goals and sustainability objectives.
- Promote proactive HSE interventions, encouraging team members to take initiative in maintaining workplace safety and environmental stewardship.
- Continuously monitor HSE activities to ensure alignment with company objectives and collaborate with other departments to drive strategic directions.
QUALIFICATIONS / SKILL SET
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience. An advanced degree is a plus.
- Relevant professional certifications such as CSP, CIH, or NEBOSH are preferred.
- Proven experience managing HSE initiatives within large-scale, complex projects, with a focus on sustainability and regulatory compliance.
- Strong ability to translate strategic objectives into actionable HSE plans that balance long-term goals with immediate needs.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, utilizing deep knowledge of HSE practices and regulations to make effective decisions in dynamic project environments.
- Outstanding communication skills, capable of conveying complex technical information to a diverse range of stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across various teams, promoting a culture of safety and environmental responsibility.
- Proficiency in HSE management systems and software tools to support effective project management.
