Job Description

In this position...

As a Manager, HR Business Partner within the Advanced Technology group, you will serve as a trusted business partner, driving the people priorities to deliver the business strategy. You will 'bring a strong foundation of business acumen and continuously deepen your knowledge' of the business, technology roadmap and engineering milestones, to ensure our talent strategy directly accelerates business deliverables.

Organization

Ford Motor Company is undergoing its largest transformation in recent history, as the company evolves from a traditional automotive manufacturer to a software-defined, technology-driven automotive company.

The Advanced Technology organization plays a critical role in enabling this transformation. This team is responsible for developing the foundational software technology, architecture, and digital experiences needed to define Ford's future.
  • The organization is comprised of:
  • Connected Vehicle Software
  • Electronics Platforms
  • Advanced Driver Assist Systems
  • In-Vehicle Infotainment Software
  • Digital Product Design
  • Technology Strategy and Planning
  • Technology Platforms and Programs
  • Digital Product Design
  • R&A

Responsibilities

What you'll do...
  • The individual in this role will partner directly with Senior Leadership team to:
  • Act as a thought partner and executive coach to help them navigate complex organizational challenges, scale their leadership capabilities, and build high-performing teams.
  • Drive a performance-oriented culture by implementing robust talent reviews, succession planning, and performance management processes that reward innovation, velocity, and technical excellence, focus, and collaboration.
  • Leverage business and people metrics (e.g., attrition, technical skill gaps, organizational health index) to diagnose organizational challenges, mitigate business risks, and proactively recommend talent solutions.
  • Lead and execute complex organizational change initiatives, ensuring smooth transitions during structural evolutions, technology shifts, and business model transformations.
  • Partner with HR Centers of Excellence to design and implement talent strategies tailored to attract and retain highly sought-after, niche technical talent (e.g., AI/ML, cloud, embedded software engineers).

What will help you thrive in this role?
  • Deep Business Acumen: Understanding of how a technology business operates. You are naturally curious about product architecture, engineering lifecycles, and software development methodologies, and you easily translate business goals into people strategies.
  • Analytical Rigor: You use data, metrics, and quantitative reasoning to tell a story, build business cases, and measure the ROI of talent initiatives.
  • Strategic Influence & Courage: You build trust and credibility quickly with highly technical leaders. You have the professional courage to challenge senior stakeholders, navigate complex matrix environments, and advocate for the right business outcomes for Ford.
  • Thrives in Ambiguity: You are comfortable with change and fast-paced environments where the roadmap is constantly evolving. You are highly resilient, action-oriented, and decisive.
  • Systems Thinker: You look at the big picture. You understand how organizational design, culture, compensation, and talent acquisition interconnect to drive business performance.
  • Strategic Workforce Planning: Partner with leaders to map future-state technical capabilities, identifying critical skill gaps early and designing talent strategies to close them.

Qualifications

You'll have...
  • Bachelor's degree
  • A proven track record of progressive HR or business leadership, demonstrating breadth across organizational design, talent management, and change management
  • 5+ years of progressively responsible experience in a professional role in an ever-changing environment, with specific experience in strategy development (preferred), organizational design, talent management and change management.
  • Experience partnering with highly technical client groups (e.g., software engineering, digital product, R&D, or advanced technology).
  • Demonstrated experience influencing executives (e.g. VP/Director).
  • Experience working with executives in an "influence-without-authority" role.
  • Previous experience managing multiple client groups and prioritizing associated projects in a fast-paced and high-volume, complex environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in and manage ambiguity - dealing with issues that do not always have a process or a system in place.
  • Ability to position self as credible (garners respect, acts with integrity, keeps commitments); proactive (has a point of view, challenges assumptions, takes initiative); and a trusted thought partner (builds relationships, delivers results).
  • Independent work style, balancing the need for collaboration with minimal supervision.
  • Equally adept at advising, thinking strategically and execution. Exhibits a roll-up your sleeves attitude.

Even better, you may have...
  • Master's degree in Human Resources, an MBA with a concentration in HR, or an advanced degree in a related field (e.g., Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Organizational Development, or Business Strategy).
  • Experience supporting global, matrixed engineering or product design teams within the technology industry.
  • Deep familiarity with software development lifecycles, agile methodologies, and tech-sector compensation models (including equity structures).
  • Experience in management consulting, business strategy, or operational leadership roles outside of HR.
  • Strong project management skills with a high level of attention to detail and operational execution.
