Job Description

The Manager, Financial Reporting leads the preparation of the Company's external financial reports, including consolidated financial statements and management discussion and analysis. This high profile and sensitive role ensures that the external disclosure documents are completed accurately and on time. Works closely with the external auditors and internal stakeholders to ensure that the external audit is completed efficiently and with minimal issues. Develops and maintains accounting processes and identifies best practices to ensure these goals are met. A recognized IFRS subject matter expert, the Manager leads the research into accounting and reporting issues and the development of accounting policies. Liaises with internal stakeholders (IT, FP&A, Safety) and external experts (auditors, advisors, regulators) to provide leadership and strategic input on developments in Badger's internal reporting functions and external reporting requirements.

The compensation for this role will be commensurate with education and/or experience.

What You'll Be Doing:
  • Leads the preparation of external financial disclosure documents, including annual and quarterly consolidated financial statements and management discussion and analysis.
  • Oversees the work of junior staff.
  • A recognized subject matter expert on technical accounting (IFRS) and reporting requirements. Acts as a resource to the organization in this capacity.
  • Completes accounting analysis of complex transactions and develops positions papers to determine the appropriate accounting treatment.
  • Liaises closely with the external audit firm to ensure the annual audit and quarterly reviews are completed efficiently and with minimal issues. Proactively identifies opportunities to enhance audit effectiveness.
  • Monitors future accounting and reporting developments and pro-actively identifies potential impacts to Badger and drives accounting/reporting initiatives to address these impacts.


What You'll Need For Success:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance or related field or a combination of education and experience. CPA designation required.
  • 5 - 10 years of relevant accounting/financial analysis experience.
  • Previous public accounting firm experience.
  • 3 - 5 years of public company reporting under IFRS and/or auditing experience.
  • 3 - 5 years of supervisory experience in an Accounting managerial role, preferred.
  • Strong technical accounting research skills, position paper writing experience.
  • Strong preference for experience with U.S GAAP accounting standards and reporting requirements, as well as Sarbanes Oxley (SOX)
  • Previous experience with large ERP systems (Oracle Fusion preferred).
  • Ability to summarize complex business issues and communicate them to a broad audience.
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to change.
  • Excellent communication skills, including oral, written, and interpersonal.
  • Experience interfacing with senior-level stakeholders.
