Full Job Description
The role:

We are seeking a Manager, Financial Operations to lead a high-performing operations team responsible for critical financial workflows, reconciliation activities, ticket resolution, and data quality improvements. This role will oversee both an established FinOps team and a newly integrated group of reconciliation specialists, ensuring accurate execution, strong controls, effective cross-functional partnership, and continuous improvement across key operational processes. The Manager, Financial Operations will be responsible for leading day-to-day execution while also identifying opportunities to improve processes, strengthen controls, increase automation, and scale the team's impact. This role will also serve as a trusted operational point of contact for client and bank partners, ensuring clear communication, effective expectation management, and timely follow-through on issues, requests, and escalations. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who is comfortable working across detailed operational workflows, complex data sets, technical partners, external stakeholders, and evolving business priorities.

What you'll do:
  • Lead the Financial Operations team responsible for managing support tickets, creating QMR/GOC network reporting, resolving operational issues, and supporting timely execution of financial operations workflows.
  • Manage and develop reconciliation specialists responsible for Settlement reporting reconciliation, Money Movement approvals, Cobrand FBO reconciliation review, suspense reconciliation, and Billpay-related operational activities.
  • Support EPD and other cross-functional partners by driving improvements to network data quality, operational data integrity, and issue resolution processes.
  • Provide day-to-day leadership, coaching, prioritization, and performance management for team members across multiple financial operations functions.
  • Establish clear operating rhythms, service levels, escalation paths, and quality expectations for ticket management, reconciliation review, approvals, and issue resolution.
  • Partner with Product, Engineering, Data, Finance, Accounting, Compliance, Risk, Operations, client, and bank partner teams to investigate issues, improve workflows, and support scalable operational solutions.
  • Serve as a professional operational liaison for client and bank partners by communicating status, clarifying requirements, managing expectations, and coordinating timely resolution of issues and escalations.
  • Use SQL and data analysis to research issues, validate transactions, identify trends, support reconciliations, and drive root cause analysis.
  • Strengthen controls and documentation across reconciliation processes, approval workflows, suspense management, and financial operations support activities.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce manual work, improve accuracy, increase automation, and enhance operational visibility through reporting and process redesign.
  • Monitor team performance, operational metrics, aging items, exception volumes, and recurring issue patterns to support proactive management and continuous improvement.
  • Translate complex operational issues into clear business impacts, recommendations, and action plans for leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Help integrate new responsibilities, processes, and team members into the broader Financial Operations function while maintaining execution quality and business continuity.

What you'll need:
  • Experience leading financial operations, reconciliation, banking operations, payments operations, card operations, or similar operational teams.
  • Proven people leadership skills, including coaching, prioritization, accountability, performance management, and team development.
  • Strong understanding of reconciliation workflows, exception management, operational controls, approvals, and issue resolution processes.
  • Hands-on SQL skills with the ability to query data, investigate exceptions, validate results, and support operational decision-making.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify root causes, evaluate operational risk, and recommend practical solutions.
  • Strategic thinking and process improvement mindset, including experience improving workflows, documentation, controls, reporting, or automation.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities, evolving processes, and cross-functional dependencies.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, including the ability to explain complex operational and data issues clearly to technical, non-technical, client, and bank partner audiences.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy, timeliness, and operational excellence.
  • Ability to balance hands-on execution with team leadership, stakeholder management, and longer-term operational transformation.

Nice to have:
  • Experience with banking-as-a-service, card programs, payment networks, FBO account structures, suspense reconciliation, or Billpay operations.
  • Experience partnering with Product, Engineering, and Data teams on operational tooling, data quality, reporting, or automation initiatives.
  • Familiarity with Jira, SQL, Snowflake, dashboards, and operational reporting.
  • Experience building or improving operating procedures, control frameworks, reconciliation documentation, and escalation processes.
