Position Title:Manager Financial Accounting/Reporting/Analysis
Job Description:Manager Financial Accounting/Reporting/Analysis Location: This role requires associates to be in-office 3 days per week, fostering collaboration and connectivity, while providing flexibility to support productivity and work-life balance. The
Manager Financial Accounting/Reporting/Analysis is responsible for accounting and project teams, in support of the Federal Government Solutions Wellpoint Federal Solutions federal businesses. Oversees a team of general and contract accountants, who are responsible for accurate, timely, and consistent execution of accounting functions, which are critical for ensuring compliance with US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), as well as complying with the complexities of Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and Cost Accounting Standards (CAS). Performing these functions with precision and excellence supports an accounting system that is approved for federal government contracting.
How You Will Make an Impact:- Orchestrating month end close, including review of journal entries and reconciliations, monthly and quarterly financial reporting and analysis, and complex and comprehensive analysis of financial results.
- Ensures proper revenue recognition by contract.
- Oversees sales and use tax calculations and submission.
- Manages Aged Receivables and prepares monthly variance explanations for Billed and Unbilled Accounts Receivable balances.
- Facilitates year end processing and closing in Costpoint (accounting system book of record).
- Oversees invoicing, coordinating additional requirements for updates to provisional rates, incurred cost submission adjustments, and final negotiation of indirect rates.
- Establishes standard operating procedures and desk procedures for accounting team activities.
- Optimizes company profit by ensuring contract costs are perpetually reconciled with invoicing (Booked to Billed), which also facilitates efficient contract close out.
- Prepares annual financial statements and quarterly Board of Director financial deck.
- Manages SOX and other internal controls.
- Coordinates and leads critical and complex projects.
- Prepares internal management reporting and manages internal and external audits.
- Hires, trains, coaches, counsels, and evaluates performance of direct reports.
Minimum Requirements:Requires BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, or Business and minimum of 8 years progressively more responsible experience in a Controller or senior financial management position with a medium to large insurance company; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.
Preferred Skills, Capabilities, and Experiences:- CPA, CFM or CMA designation preferred.
- MBA or Masters in Accounting preferred.
