Job Description

In the role of Manager, Finance - TFC, you will provide strategic financial leadership for Toronto FC, Toronto FC II, TFC Academy, and BMO Training Grounds. With dual function responsibilities for TFC's Accounting and FP&A, you will drive month-end close, financial planning, reporting, business partnering, and operational decision support while serving as a key liaison between MLSE Finance and Major League Soccer Finance.

Responsibilities:
  • Team Operations (includes TFC, TFC II, 4 Academy teams & BMOTG)
  • Partner with department leaders to develop, manage, and optimize operating budgets and forecasts (fiscal and calendar views)
  • Lead monthly financial reviews and present variance analyses, key insights, risks, and opportunities to department leaders.
  • Execute PO and invoice creation (AR), invoice coding and submission (AP), and employee expense reports
  • Partner closely with Front Office to assist with player compensation analyses and reconciliations
  • Lead cash management, disbursement and reconciliation of travel petty cash


MLS League Reporting
  • Own and oversee MLS's yearly financial reporting (including new shift in season schedule) ensuring accuracy, compliance and timely submission
  • Lead TFC's and TFC II's home game reporting & stadium settlements
  • Oversee and process MLS monthly settlements
  • Coordinate ticketing projection submissions with MLSE ticketing team
  • Support MLS's annual budget, forecast and Long-Range-Plan submissions and other ad hoc league reporting as required
  • Prepare monthly HST reporting to support league's Canadian entity
  • Assist with league audit requirements of ticketing submissions


MLSE Finance
  • Execute month/quarter/year-end close activities for TFC and TFC II reporting units, including preparing journal entries, account reconciliations, P&L dashboards, and variance analyses
  • Manage the annual budgeting process and monthly forecasting cycle across all Team departments (fiscal and calendar views)
  • Ensure alignment across MLSE fiscal reporting, Rogers reporting requirements, and MLS/MLS Next Pro international season reporting frameworks.
  • Support financial analysis and preparation of quarterly board reporting & Rogers' Monthly Business Reviews
  • Drive long-range financial planning and scenario analysis to support strategic decision-making
  • Assist with audit requirements and support annual external audit activities
  • Collaborate on monthly cash flow updates and forecasting


Other
  • Partner with TFC leadership, providing insights and recommendations to support strategic and operational decision-making
  • Lead the TFC II ticket sales initiative and provide mentorship and guidance to the TFC x BMO Fellow on revenue objectives and initiatives
  • Cross-functional assistance with the Toronto Argonauts and other BMO Fields events
  • Support the MLSE Finance task force group
  • Other projects and analyses as requested


Requirements:
  • A minimum of 7+ years of finance experience in accounting, FP&A, or business partnering roles
  • Bachelor of Business degree required; CPA or MBA preferred
  • Advanced user of MS Office programs, mainly Excel and PowerPoint, and strong knowledge and experience with Oracle, Hyperion, Visual Basics and Smartview required
  • Experience leading budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and business planning processes
  • Demonstrated ability to translate financial insights into strategic business recommendations & process improvements
  • Proven ability to provide guidance, mentorship and knowledge sharing across varying levels & cross functionally
  • Strong communication, stakeholder management, and relationship-building skills
