Full Job Description
Reporting to the Director, Professional Development and Learning, the Manager oversees the planning and delivery of conferences, post- conference workshops and executive learning programs. Working in concert with other department leaders, the manager ensures the programs offered are progressive, relevant, timely and coordinated with CPA Alberta's full line of products and services. Stakeholder relationship building is integral to this role, to ensure CPA Alberta is a preferred professional development provider.
CPA Alberta has offices in Edmonton and Calgary and provides hybrid Telecommuting opportunities (working from home a maximum of 3 days a week).
What you bring
• Bachelor's degree in education, business, administration, training, instructional design, event planning or related field is required. CPA Designation is an asset.
• A minimum of 2 years of people management experience.
• Several years of progressive experience in conference, event, or program management.
• Experience managing large-scale events with multiple stakeholders and competing priorities.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and energize multi-disciplinary teams.
• Experience in adult continuing education, online learning, sales and marketing, and/or member services; active experience in designing, implementing, administering and delivering products and services is desired.
• Experience developing and maintaining multiple stakeholder relationships.
• Strong organizational, prioritization and time management skills, with the ability to work well under pressure, handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
• Proven ability to apply innovative forward-thinking to look for continuous improvements.
What you will be doing
Professional Development Programs: Leading, Planning, Development, Monitoring, Review
• As part of a cross-functional team, manage and lead the end-to-end planning, scheduling, development, implementation, and evaluation of executive learning programs, conferences and events.
• Develop project plans, timelines, and workback schedules to ensure successful delivery.
• Collaborate with internal teams and stakeholders to develop conference themes, session formats, and program content.
• Coordinate venue management, catering, audiovisual requirements, registration, accommodations, and on-site logistics.
• Manage relationships and support the identification, recruitment, and coordination of speakers, facilitators, and moderators.
• Involved in the annual and ongoing review of all aspects of program planning, development and delivery, including attendance, participant and instructor/speaker evaluations, registrations, and cancellations.
• Stay apprised of industry trends and market demand for skills and competencies required of Alberta CPAs.
• Collaborate with other departments to discuss, inform, and promote Member Product and Services' needs.
• Regularly scan competitors' offerings and pricing to maintain price and value competitiveness.
Strategic Planning, Business Planning and Financial Planning and Monitoring
• Support innovation and continuous improvement to enhance effectiveness, efficiency, satisfaction, and value.
• Work to establish a culture and operational structure of consistent delivery, innovation, cost optimization, partnerships flexibility and nimbleness.
• Participate in planning sessions to develop departmental strategic plans and annual business operational plans.
• Contribute to quarterly reporting, tracking progress, activities on specific operational goals and KPIs.
• Support the annual departmental budget process to review assumptions and support budget development.
• Responsible for leading, hiring, training, coaching, and managing the performance of staff.
