About this opportunity:Join Cenovus as a Manager, Environmental Engineering at our Lima Refinery! You'll be an integral part of our Site's Health, Safety and Environmental Leadership Team, driving outstanding environmental standards and compliance programs. In this role, you will divide your time providing direct environmental engineering support and leading a dedicated team of engineers, environmental scientists, and regulatory compliance professionals to uphold flawless environmental practices.
What you'll do: - Provide technical environmental engineering support for day-to-day operations, environmental water/air studies, expense and capital projects, etc.
- Develop and implement environmental engineering solutions and plans for improvements for meeting air emission regulatory compliance.
- Analyze environmental performance metrics and compliance data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement, and communicate findings and recommendations to refinery leadership.
- Utilize emissions modeling, mass balance calculations, and engineering assessments to quantify emissions, evaluate compliance scenarios, and support permitting applications and regulatory submissions.
- Provide technical leadership for greenhouse gas (GHG) reporting, emissions reduction initiatives, energy efficiency projects, and sustainability-related engineering programs.
- Conduct root cause investigations and engineering analyses related to environmental incidents, permit deviations, upset conditions, and exceedance events, developing sustainable corrective actions.
- Support wastewater treatment operations through monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimization of treatment systems, including API separators, dissolved air flotation (DAF), biological treatment units, and stormwater infrastructure.
- Interpret and apply complex environmental regulations including Clean Air Act (CAA), Title V permitting, NSPS, NESHAP/MACT, RCRA, SPCC, and Clean Water Act requirements to refinery operations and projects.
- Lead environmental due diligence and technical reviews for remediation activities, groundwater monitoring, soil management, and waste characterization projects.
- Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary environmental team of engineers/scientists, fostering professional development and departmental effectiveness.
- Oversee environmental compliance programs across air, water, waste, wetlands, and remediation to meet regulatory and company standards.
- Manage departmental budgets (OPEX/CAPEX) and ensure alignment with operational and environmental goals.
- Serve as the primary liaison with regulatory agencies, legal counsel, and internal stakeholders regarding environmental issues and enforcement actions.
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve the refinery's Environmental Management Systems and compliance strategies.
- Review and influence proposed environmental regulations, forecasting operational impacts and advising senior leadership on cost-effective compliance solutions.
- Ensure accurate reporting, recordkeeping, and timely implementation of corrective actions to maintain or improve compliance.
Who you are:- Legally authorized to work in the US
- Bachelor of Science in Environmental or Chemical Engineering
- 10+ years of environmental, health, and safety experience
- 5+ years of direct enforcement experience with regulators
- Proven leadership and management skills
- Experience with Federal and State environmental regulations
